Methanol Injection

Is a JB4 necessary for proper meth setup or can a standalone ECU flash do the job?

FinanceNick stated that our ECUs can adapt and that a specific map for meth is not required either, just a few full WOT pulls and your good???

no way i would run meth that away, no built in safety when done that way. if you get a clog or any other trouble the motor would immediately run lean and then boom

Which meth kit are you using? And is it a mapped meth kit, where meth flow is proportional to boost / revs, rather than one that just runs constant on a preset boost?

I use AEM, and is not mapped for meth, our ecu's do a great job of working it out on their own, just needed 10 or so long 3rd gear pulls and she's good to go

Get Aquamist or Snow Performance controller.
Skip the JB4 nonsense

I have used snow performance in various installs.
Great products and the customer service is setup at a separate facility.
Its easier to email for their customer service.
It may take a day to get ahold of them but they do follow thru.

Has anyone had good success using the BMS charge pipes with ports for methanol injection? I’d like know how effective it is for a water/methanol setup even though it wouldn’t be a true direct port setup. These high Texas temperatures take a toll on our motors.

Even with a JB4 a clog would cause problems. The JB4 can possibly reduce boost to what the ECU is set for but that’s the best it can do. The ECU will have to adapt to do the rest.

So yes, any controller can work for our application with a flashes ECU unless you plan to run boost > 23psi and need a boost cut feature.

If you don’t map for meth you won’t gain much power I doubt will just keep things cooler

Nope... just adding meth will give you 20-50whp depending on your setup

That’s impressive always thought there wasn’t much gains to be had unless tuning for it

So if you run meth and run out or get a clog and are not mapped for it everything will be safe?

If you tune for no meth (fuel or octane) then it should be fine. It’s when meth is used as a fuel source (> 23psi) and it gets clogged or something... kaboom!

If you don't tune for meth and just add it to a stage 2 map. What methanol/water mix do you recommend?

100% H20, 50/50, or 80%H20/20 will all work great for cooling and cleaning benefits. My only gripe with my previous Direct Port Aquamist Methanol setup, was the nozzles would always clog. This was on another platform, but the concept is still the same.

The nozzles would clog ?
I have been buying from Snow Performance. Luckily I have not had that issue.
I have used 50/50 and M1
What size nozzle do you use ?

Dumb question but how often do the nozzles clog and why? I've got a 55gal drum that I haven't touched yet, but if it's fresh from the drum and distilled/bottles water, what else could cause clogging?

They were size 4 nozzles and I was using Boost Juice, which is a 50/50 mix.
