Winter Tire Question for DFW

Since I just moved to Dallas, I was wondering if anyone puts winter tires on their M5 or do you just not drive it when the weather gets below 40 degrees? Also, I'm guessing that winter is generally over by the end of February, right?

I don't run anything as far as a winter setup. I have a daily that I take out when the road conditions are bad so can't help you out there. There's really only ice here to worry about. Some years we'll get snow but it's not like the Midwest or east coast. The winters here really don't end till April-May. It can be 50 today and tomorrow will be an ice storm.

Thanks for the feedback. If it's ice/snow, I'm definitely staying off the road. It's the temps falling below 40 degrees and the Michelin's PSS turning hard that's probably a more pressing issue since it's going to be below 40 for awhile...especially if winter doesn't end until April-May. Again, thanks for the insight.

Same here - Just make sure you have good tires if you decide to drive in the colder winter days to drive slowly. Our cars are way to powerful and with the drop in temps our tires do not do to well. Same for cold weather and rain.

Every year is diferent in Texas. Hard to guage when you need winter tires vs summer. Some years we get snow/ice while others we get a few really cold days and that's it. My last car I just went with Conti Extreme DWS and those were amazing all season tires and stuck well to the ground.
