Number plate screws

The screws holding my front number plate look rather manky. I have bought some new ones from Halfords. These come with nylon nuts but it's not clear to me whether it is possible to get behind the number plate easily.

Has anyone screwed on a new number plate? Did you simply have to screw the nylon bolt into a threaded hole or captive nut or did you have to use a nut too?

I would use adhesive pads as they look better than screws

I took the black base off mine and just have the reg plate with two white nylon head s/tappers that screw into the small top corner holes, you can hardly see them and no rear nut needed. Easily removed for photo shoots etc.

That is a thought but then I'd have to buy new number plates as well. The screws don't look great though so perhaps I shall.

I think I'll try unscrewing mine and see how it looks.

Thanks for the help, you two.
