How wary should I be of launch control

I have never done a full bore launch in my car. A BMW mechanic that I was talking to advised me to steer clear of launch control if I cared about my clutch (which I do).

Clearly, a full bore launch will put strain on the car but how wary should I be? I'm highly unlikely to be doing this more than once or twice but I'd like to try it if I can do so without stressing my car unduly.

Launch Control & DCT

Per Bmw M5 Owners Manual :

Hints

“Component wear : Do not use Launch Control too often; otherwise, this may result in premature wear of components due to the high stress placed on the vehicle.◀”

“Do not use Launch Control during the break-in”

Cheers
Bruce

I've used it once and will never use it again. It is absolutely worthless and will definitely break something eventually, especially if your modded.

Yes, don't even bother, it was poorly implemented by BMW, doesn't work well at all.

Agreed; never tried it but the TC light comes on all the time anyways; seen enough reviews to know it's hit or miss.

It's just like dropping the clutch in a manual car. I used in my M5 but was useless, last thing you need to do in the M5 is spin the tires as they will keep spinning making a slower acceleration in 1st and 2nd.
