Looks interesting. I too can't justify $2k for an intake. Out of curiosity is there some sort of coating or wrap on the intake tubing? Can't really tell but from the pictures it looks like it's textured with some sort of wrap.

The intake itself probably only costs a few hundred to make but it's coated in ///M5 tax. Many of us joke about it, but the reality is that we we usually just eat the cost because 'you have to pay to play' and cheaper alternatives aren't available.

which I can justify. But paying anything over $1000 for some intakes is just a little much for my budget. Not hating though cause if you got the money, why not. A lot of people say well that money could have been spent on other mods to make it faster for less but what they fail to recognize is if you’re spending $1000 plus on some intakes you probably got $100’s more to spend on other parts. “Don’t hate the player hate the game”. LOL With that said enjoy your RK Autowerks Intakes. I see you haha. |

Got mine installed last Friday in Aus, along with some dumpipes and jb4.
The intake is not noticeable at all really. Was expecting much more. I can see why people would just go with BMS and peace of mind and less maintenance. The dump pipes and tune well that's a different story. 2nd gear is no longer usable. I need some good tyres. |

Reviving an old thread as to not make a new one. I was wandering if anyone else has any video/sound clips of their Gamma intakes. I have mine already waiting to install, but I'm debating on whether to run with the mesh or the paper filters. Gamma said they don't rec daily driving with the mesh filter. You can definitely see why when looking at both. It's not my daily driver but I'm in Orlando and its very humid along with your common construction all over the place. Love bug nation. Thanks for any guidance.

take a look. the mesh just looks like you would be asking for trouble, but i have seen so many people running them. Maybe not these specific ones, but a good quality one.

The pipes on this look rather simple... for the price I'm sure you could fabricate your own if you were handy with stainless steel or aluminum welding..

From their instagram, it looks like it's a single silicone pipe from inside of grill to the engine, which means you will have to remove the rectangular shape of stock intake located behind of grill. Did the package ever include any installation procedures? |

Ordered mine today.
Probably will receive within 2 weeks, since I live in abroad. I will post detail pics for sure, and possibly sound clips with paper filter. |

installed!!
I finally received mine today, and installed!!
Man, it looks great and sounds great. It came with Spectre paper type filter, which includes adapter ring for different sizes. Project Gamma uses 3.5" pipes, so you can get filters from other suppliers if you don't feel good with spectre. The fitment of MAF sensor mount and sensor itself was pretty good. The alignment was exact, so there was no hassle to put together. Only issue was that the silicone/glue they used for sensor mount wasn't neat , which makes me worry that there could be an air leak if assembly was not done properly. Let's hope that will not happen..... |

Installation
If you have removed your stock intake system all the way to the inlet duct, the installation is quite straight.
Project Gamma sent you 3 pieces; silicone pipe, metal pipe, filter. Silicone pipe is quite flexible, so you can easily(but quite difficult...) put through the curved intake duct behind your grill. The tip is!! You want to pull the silicone pipe from grill as much as you can. If not, you will have difficulties when you install metal pipe which connects your silicone hose and filter. Since there is no recommendation of how deep metal pipe has to go inside of silicone hose, you want to mount it as deep as you can to ensure there is no air gets pass through when you do harsh pulls. Beside putting silicone hose through curved duct line, and securing metal pipe into silicone hose, it is quite easy. AND!! It looks amazing!!! For the sound clip, I wanted to take video while I'm cruising, but unfortunately I forgot to check my gopro's battery...... I will post that video sooner or later, and here is short sound clip that I took with my camera. Revving in neutral in the parking lot. https://youtu.be/FzcGtimM_38 Last edited by bongshi4; 06-14-2019 at 06:55 AM.. |
