M5 f10 idle RPM issue- video attached
Hi guys,
I have been noticing a slight movement with my RPM at idle when car is warm and AC is on. There is slight vibration that comes and go as well when the RPM moves. It can be barely felt via the seats. Maybe I'm being paranoid after all, not sure . Here is a video for the movement I'm talking about. Do you think it's normal? If not, what can be possibly wrong. Any suggestions are welcomed. P.s car is stock with cat back FI exhust and has 90,000 km on. No errors found using ODB2 scanner. Spark plugs were changed 3 months ago. Injector along with throttle body were cleaned as well. Replaced 2 MAF Sensors, along with OEM alternator which died a month ago. |

Could just be the ac compressor engaging, nothing to worry about. If you shut the ac off does it not do it? If it stops w the ac off I wouldnt worry about it. Either way seems like nothing to be concerned about.

I am very OCD so I get it, but that's nothing to even consider an issue.

My 2015 m6 gc would do that also. Indy shop couldn't find anything wrong with it. I did recently install the bms intakes and it made it worst, but only during startup, esp when the car has been sitting in the sun for a while. Once its moving and comes to a stop the rpm barely fluctuate. I think these cars are very sensitive to temp of air going into intakes and that causes MAF sensor to fluctuate the rpm based on air density.

Funny story.
A friend of mine pulled a trick on me many years ago when I had an E36 sedan. He was in the back seat, and when he pushed the button to close the rear door window, which was closed, the car would do a small rpm drop. He then got my attention to this and kept pressing the button at various intervals while we were waiting for another passenger. He borderline got me to think that there was an issue with the car before laughing and telling me what he did. |

Fixed my rpm fluctuation issue. Rpm would fluctuate at idle even when fully warmed up with a considerable amount of driving time. Initially I cleaned my MAF sensors which did not make a difference. I order a new pair of MAF sensors and O2 sensors. Fixed my issue, I'm going to guess it was O2 sensors but who knows now. My car is at 73k miles, problem popped up pretty recently.
Honestly I'm so happy it wasn't injectors although I'm sure that's in my future. Not even mad that I dropped one of bolts to the brace above the o2 sensors. |
