Purchasing New Brakes

What is the best online website that offers the best deal on purchasing a pair of OEM front brake rotors?

I'd like to buy a set that includes rotors, pads, and whatever else needs to be changed.

I'm not sure what other than the rotors and pads need to change, so please help me out with that so I don't miss any parts.

Thanks

I just ordered new rotors and pads. The cheapest OEM rotors I found were on bmwdiscountparts. $1248 for front and rears + shipping, about $80 for me. I ended up buying the Hawk performance pads from ECS. I couldn’t find any other aftermarket pads that were in stock or 400+ a set. I didn’t go for BMW pads due to the excessive dust. If your not getting the warning for brakes, you shouldn’t have to replace the sensors.

Very helpful thanks. Will wait to see if there are better deals out there.

The front discs are never going to be a bargain and 'OE' discs are only ever going to be Bm branded ones, unlike the lesser model ones. There are some other ones with cut away pieces from the diameter design that some have fitted but q expensive. On the uk eBay site there are pads but for the rear:OE textar b/pads going for just 30£ which IS a bargain.

rockauto.com sells the Centric brand, AKA Stoptech. I see they have a pad and rotor kit for roughly $860 for fronts. I'm not a fan of their posi quiet pads in other applications. Maybe they are fine here. I have had good luck on my e39 m5 with the Power Stop evolution or Z26 formulation pads.

Cheapest f/pads are around 80£ here in UK and the dust free ones can go over 250 to 500! so again there is a premium if you want your wheels clean longer. Original Bm pads are really dusty and around the 300£ mark though not sure who they are made by.Textar is it?

Yeah, I second that -- i hear carbotech is good. Specifically from them directiy. Front -Ct1648-1521 - $280.00
Rear - ct1469 - 1521 - $210.00

Hope that helps, let us know if you end up with these.

Problem is a lot anecdotes are that the lesser dust pads for this car are not as good performing. Also I've used Hawk successful on my C6 Corvette but I'm concerned that the major amount of chamfering on the M5 pads when new is a serious reduction of surface area that is going to adversely effect stopping. I haven't come to any conclusion yet.

getbmwparts.com $375 a piece for front rotors. comes from silver spring bmw.

carbotech 1521 pads, way less dust, no squeal, no real performance difference.

Thanks for the tips here. I've searched around the found cheapest rotor prices at bmwpartsnow, about $1173 for all full set of four rotors. I am getting the Z26 pads for front and rear and Rockauto has them for a good price. I saw a few reviews on Youtube and they seem to be quite favorable from performance car users.

That's not too bad. Unfortunately the brakes on this car are expensive. I was not expecting that either because on my old m3 and c63 there was good aftermarket options. Was quite a shock. If not in a rush on eBay you can find rotors piece by piece in the mid 200s sometimes.

Luckily I got a guy that charges me $40 labor to change the front and rear brakes because I'm sure the dealer or a actual "Indy" would charge around $2000-$2500. Yikes

no way.

i got all new pads and front rotors replaced for $300. at the dealer.

some jobs have specified prices. i was told the pad job did.
but as a rule,
they charge $120/hr i believe maybe a lil more ...takes 5-6 hours turnover but actual work is 2.5 - 3 hours and that's what you get charged for. Or at least I do because I'm easygoing, come early, informed-ish, ask for no wash and don't give any fuss and they use coupons and seasonal discounts and im always super grateful.
and ive gotten to know them bc spending money with them has become a hobby.
and call me crazy, but i enjoy it.

I just bought front pads, rotors, sensor, fluid, paste all in for $1300 shipped. All OEM. It wasn't that much cheaper for going with Zimmermann/Hawk/etc aftermarkets so I elected BMW labeled OEM to ensure fitment and genuine parts.

what was your all-in price for the front brake service? My dealer quoted me something in the $2k range. I find it hard to believe dealer was willing to even do rotors at $300 a piece, that's barely any margins in the part.

OEM rotors

Pads: what are u looking for? cheapest? less dust? or no squeal?

i went with carbotech 1521 after much research with end users like i now am for less dust and oem feel, if not better. they werent cheap about the same as OEM.
cool story is I called to see how fast shipping would be and I found out they were in the oven just for me. they are made to order.

i approve, dust is minimal, no squeal yet, but I've come to think when the pads squeal on these cars you just need new rotors. but that is debateable.

-performance, I mean you can put a biscuit in these brakes and the massive caliper pistons are going to make it stop on a dime. if you think
youre a total wacko or track the car where you can feel the nuances of different brake pads because brake fade is happening after one good corner with steel brakes then u need to get carbon ceramics chap$$$$$ -rotors will last you a lifetime though

i cant speak for Z26 pads but the name lends itself to chevy with the 'Z' and my quick online search just bombarded me with Corvette and Chevrolet stuff and for that reason I probably would never go with them.

no $300 total labor on 4 pads and 2 front rotors.
--your dealer quoted you $900 a piece rotors etc but the rotors are where you can save money

all in - 2 front rotors $800 w/ shipping, pads i dont recall but like $400 for all 4.,

i make an appointment and tell them I have parts I just want labor (I never worried with the grease you mentioned bc that's just part of the labor, oh I'm sure I get charged for it but small potatoes)

im paying $120/hr labor, its a 2-3 hour job.. $300 after coupons too.. its not cheap..

what dealer is this? because these rates are dirt cheap. That's like indy rates here in SF bay area. My dealer refuses to allow me to bring my own OEM parts, and they're at least at a $200-$240/hr rate. All in, they quoted me something like $2500 for just front corners.
