Well, I agree with him and I'm pretty sure I'm part of the crowd they'd be targeting with the new M5, or at least I had hoped so. Getting too big, too heavy, too low of a rev limit and two turbos on top of all that....I'm on my 3rd M3 now and this will probably be my last, since the aforementioned objections will probably apply well to the F3X M3 too.

And yes, I know, the E9X M3 is no lightweight either and small is not an ideal word to describe it, but we all have limits and I think my current ride is as big and heavy as I am prepared to go when it comes to my fun-to-drive daily ride. Anything more, size and weight-wise, and I might as well drive my wife's X5d or trade my sedan for an X5M.
So everyone that says they ate not considering this car anymore, what are you now considering? Just curious because everyone is going to be using turbos or superchargers

I still think it's too early to determine how it will really sound, though I do find it amusing that people feel FI isn't a real "M" car. Times have changed.

I still don't consider the 1M as a real M car, or else they would name it M1! 1M is like 335i with M package. I don't think from now on we will have a real M car with high Rev engine. I will keep my e92 M3 but for my next car, I will get a P car.

They couldn't, M1 already exists

And I don't think it's "just" and 335i with an M package, but that's not the point here, the F10 M5 will be a "real M car".

LOL.....seriously.

I guess going by same theory then you might look else where. Because more then half of the P car line up is also turbo charged.

In the history, never M cars had a FI engine. Further, M cars have never shared the same engine with another car. Get a M car like e9x M3 then you will understand what I am talking about.

Not even close to being true. M engines have been shared between different cars many times, where to begin? Z4 M, Z3 M, Z8, M6, M635Csi, US E36 M3.

Also the racing version of the M car that started it all, the M1 used a turbocharger.
