I got in on this post pretty late. I have the intakes coming. Are you still sending out the vents? If so PM me and I can send over the money. Thanks for all the info for this mod. This is perfect!

Just buy some 1" self tapping screws at home depot or lowe's. It might help to drill small holes in the vents and or the inlet (behind the grills) attached to the snorkel leading to the intake |

Allmotor, for me it was more about using dry filters and the experiement on IATs I am doing plus getting some much needed intake sound in the car although a lot of air passed the headlights and elsewhere alon the front of the car, you can see all the daylight when the airbox bottoms are pulled.
Its got to help removing the few grams from out front of the front axle line with positive effects on handling, braking and acceleration... Jay |

So I tried ordering the vents from the link, and even sent a email to Kim at screwfix and she said they don't ship to US. I wonder is we get enough people wanting a set of they'll make an exception.
If not financenick will be our only way. |

For all the trouble, you might be better off with AFE or RPI scoops

Hmmm Its possible - these vents in nature are better than the RPi anyway, the air just hits the back of the RPi scoops creating turbulence, and the vents from srewfix sit perfectly behind the kidney grills, and ram the air through a smooth 90 degree bend straight to the filters. All for $8 There very easy to fit too |

JB4 and meth up and running so I now can log IATs through my JB4 and air temps in various locations via my data logging thermocouples.
Just need time to swop one air box back to OEM and log both the OEM and the Ramair / modified airbox and see how the compare in the exact same tiem and conditions. Jay |

Did some logs- need to work out how to display in this thread- did just the modified airbox/ramair filter as posted above... quite interesting:
Air Temp out side: ~12.5C Air Temp by the air inlet pipe behind the bumper (left and right): ~13.5C Air Temp inside my 'airboxes' next to the filters at the very top of the box: ~14C Engine Bay: ~40C IAT Temp from JB4: ~30C This is with a fully warm engine (30 mile high speed run, temps taken at crusie ~ 60mph). As Air Temp rise, deltas between all the temps remain the same. At idle (+1 minute in traffic, full hot oil and coolant, guage at 120C) the delta between the air inlet temp and the airbox/filter temp raised to 2.5C max. Max engine bay temps after very hard driving and over 50 miles - reached 52 degrees. IATs change remotely of airtemp coming in and ~+20 deg higher than the incoming air temp- sensor must be post intercoolers? Will swop one of my airfilter boxes and fit oem filter and box and log, then swop again to an exposed Ramair filter (no airfilter top) as others are running. Winter storms are here so doing anything is smile inducing at best lol Hope to post logs from my multi channel thermocouple ASAP. |
