I painted mine with aerosol. Looks great and I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

I removed them, super easy. I then used plastic primer and a few coats of gloss black. The gloss black I used didn't require lacquer.

The air filters are great. Just waiting for a nice new home.

I know some people have them wrapped on car to save removing an having to reseal the backs with 3m tape etc

Looking at videos seems to come of with trim removal tool an maybe knife to cut the sealant away first

I did mine with gloss black wrap film.
10 mins per handle. Apply film strip,
cut around with scalpel blade and remove excess.
Simple and looks good.
Also easy to remove if necessary.

Just warm them up with a heat gun and use the trim removal tool to gently slide through the glue. Then clean the old residue off and re tape.

I wrapped mine at first but was never happy with the edges, it's much harder than it looks to get it perfect. I've seen some pictures of wraps on the f10 forums, not so much the m5 and people seem to think they look great but you can still see the chrome on some of them.

It's so easy to remove these trims I can't see the big deal about removing and using aerosol. I got great results which I wasn't actually expecting. Paint cost about £10 from euro car parts.

I wrapped mine while on the car. Took me 30 min to do all of them and I re did a some over until I was happy. Very easy to do on the car, no need to remove them.

When I wrapped mine it was easy enough to cut, just had to be careful. The reason i removed my wrap was because the edges started to lift, maybe that was down to cheap wrap.

Wrap is a good finish as long as you can get it right and it stays on.

Yes cut some thin strips of tape to resecure them. Make sure you clean the old stuff off the handle and trim. If I were you I would let the paint dry for 24 hours before you fit them again. You need to push against them to ensure they are on properly, you don't want finger prints in them.
