Not-a-distributor distributor noise

So, for several months, I've noticed something from the audio in my car that I would describe as distributor interference, even though the car obviously does not have such a thing.

It is super quiet, sounds a little like a cricket, and is tied directly to both engine speed and throttle.

That is, the sound is almost imperceptible while coasting. But, as I apply more throttle, the noise becomes louder. And it is in obvious time with the engine speed, increasing in frequency in lockstep with RPM.

Off throttle, no noise. On throttle, crickety electrical noise, that tracks frequency with engine speed as I accelerate. Off throttle, with the trans downshifting and blipping throttle? Noise pops up with every downshift and throttle blip.

Anyone else had this?

I'll try to capture it in a video.

Could be the Active Sound Design (ASD), that is supposed to enhance engine noise. I think you can turn it off via coding. Or it could still be ignition noise. The ignition can make electrical noise even on distributor-less engines.

Ok y'all... Here's a good capture of the noise. I think you'll all agree it's not the normal engine whine that a lot of folks are referencing.

Think cricket or junebug sounds.

I have that exact cricket noise produced with the throttle as you described. It’s fairly annoying. I have been trying to figure out what it is as well. Difficult to explain but your recording is perfect.

Is yours a manual or auto? Mine is manual, so if you have the auto we can at least rule out transmission.

Yep, DCT. So I think you're right about the trans not being involved.

Also, I'm relieved (sort of) to find that I'm not the only one.

I personally think it's something related to either a poorly circuited injector or coil pack. I can't think of much else that pulses higher voltage electrical signals in such a close concert with engine RPM. (On the other hand I'm just an asshole owner, not a mechanic ) Or, maybe there's a grounding issue somewhere?

I get the same noise. Sounds like it’s coming from the hpfp. Open the hood and check
