Proper operating oil temp?
Hi all,
Fairly new to the BMW world. What is the proper operating temp for the M5? Would the the first 1/4th mark 200°F be operating temp? |

You mention 200 in sport and 215-220 in efficient mode. I would think that if driving in sport mode that the operating temp be switched with efficient mode? |

sport plus turns on more cooling.
efficient mode is your fastest warmup.

how long does it take for your m5's to get to the half way mark at around 200*F? mine takes over 5-8 miles. i think it's bit too long. i can barely open up the car on a normal commute which blows. if that's abnormal, i'm inclined to change the thermostat.

6mi/10km should get the car up to full operating temp-read that in a BMW owners manual a while back, can't remember which car it was, but it's my gauge before I start to lean on it.
