UFC 205 at MSG

Been following the UFC since its early life in the early 90's. I've seen live matches in NJ, Philly and Las Vegas.

Finally legal here in NY and was super excited to watch a live match at MSG. Sadly, I don't think that I would be attending this event. I tried purchasing tickets through ticketmaster the morning of the release but the cheapest tickets were $800 for nose bleed seats. $15800 for floor level seats.

13 top notch bouts that are worthy of main event status. Oh well...I guess it'll be PPV.

Did you expect anything less for MSG? 10 million people in the NY metro area and lots of them filthy rich.. the rest more than willing to throw their weeks paycheck in for a brawl

Honestly, yes. These prices are more than Championship Boxing, NY Knicks or Rangers playoff tickets.

I was hoping (or wishful thinking) that mid section would be around $500 each.

Looking forward to hopefully seeing Wonderboy Thompson put a wooping on Woodley and take that belt. Thompson is really refreshing change to all these boring ass wrestlers. Then see a Lawler vs Thompson matchup, that would be a bloodfest.

I am sure many of those tickets were bought by Mcgregor fans are coming from overseas. A lot closer than going to Vegas.

Looks like Mcgregor nailed Alvarez
Mcgregor's power seems too much for anyone under welterweight except Nate (whose face is a splatball)
Mcgregor's got great movement and accurately timed countering skills
Alvarez couldnt get inside all night and Mcgregor's reach was apparant .. saw that early on and knew the fight was eventually over

Who's next? Tyrone? Habib? Love to see those.. those would be REAL challenges for Conor

Connor is a beast. Was very impressed by his last performance.
Like he said, his timing and accuracy is on another level, comparable to Floyd Mayweather and Roy Jones Junior.
Having said that, I would avoid Khabib Nurmagomedov if I was him. That guy is the only one who get beat him I think. Connor will have a huge advantage on the feet, but he is not going to survive ground and pound by that guy on the ground.
I know, Connor has improved his takedown defense, but it may not be enough to stop Russian.
I think he would have a better chance beating Woodley for 170 pound crown than beating Khabib.

All the Conor haters that said Alvarez would crush him are quiet now. Lost count how many analysts, commentators, UFC fighters, ex-UFC fighters said Eddie would beat Conor. It wasn't even close, he toyed with Eddie. He made him look like an amateur.

I'd pay too, and so would Diaz because Connor is way too lethal 155.

I think where Conor will have problems is at 170 where guys will negate his reach advantage and also better chin against his "power".
Yes I also think Khabib is too dangerous for him.. he is one mad Mongol.. that is ONE dangerous fighter.

as far as Conor vs Floyd.. Mayweather wins if boxing rules.. Conor wins if MMA

As a Connor fan, I don't want him to fight Diaz again, because first of all there is nothing to gain, and he has proved to be very difficult opponent for Connor.
If I was his manager I would avoid Khabib who is #1 contender now at 155 division and go for 170 vs Woodley.
Should be a great fight and in case oF W for Connor, he will become immortal and a GOAT.

Connor had problems at 170 against Diaz, who is very durable, has a great chin, very good on the ground and never gets tired.
I cant say other fighters in that division have these qualities.
Now I am not implying that Diaz is better than Woodley or other top contenders there, but he is very difficult to defeat for anybody.
As far as Connor vs Mayweather, I am not so sure about Mayweather wins with boxing rules.
I will say that I would put my money on Connor in a boxing match, if they allow them to use UFC small gloves.
Floyed has no punching power, hasn't knocked out anybody.
Connor on the other hand can knock anybody out if he lands a clean punch in this weight division.
As I said before, his timing and accuracy combined with his hand speed is as good as anyone in boxing or MMA history.

I think under boxing rules.. the gloves and defense of Mayweather negates Conor's "power" & wins. Mayweathers been in there with some knockout artists as well and stayed afoot under boxing rules. Lets not forget Floyd is 39..
Also think Conor's "power" would be suspect against opponents > 155.
First off his frame and reach almost says he should be at 170 anyway so one could argue hes a 170 who slimmed down to kick featherweight butt.
A guy like Tyrone has chin and negates his reach and height.. more of a match.. we saw that with a tuff dog like Diaz who posed more of a threat to Conor.. no question though.. Conor is legit

Floyed is smaller than Connor, he is amost 40 years old and has never had punching power.
Irishman will have 2 inch reach advantage(which is huge), and he is in his prime.
Floyd is not going to attempt any takedowns obviously, so they will keep it oh their feet, which Connor prefers and does not have to worry about kicks and defend takedowns.
With small gloves Connor takes Floyd out, I almost have no doubt about it, because in 25 min. fight he only has to find his target once. With pillow boxing gloves, I don't know...
Floyd will be running , counterattacking and running...., has outstanding defense.
I would pay to see this fight for sure.

Lets be honest, Connor is not going to outpoint Floyd. He has to knock him out to win that fight. I think he can, even with pillow gloves.

We all know an MMA match means McGregor wins hands down.. and Floyds good but hes near 40.. not a great match-up.. just for cash.. and I dont think Mayweather would risk his "legacy".. and hes got a boatload of cash already so hes not hungry.
Meanwhile the more I see Khabib the more I see the two best fighters in the lower weight classes ..
they need to tap gloves this coming year..
That or Conor moving up to try Woodley's belt.
Some nice matches comin up thats for sure.
