You're right I made a mistake, the filter was next to the diff oil on the invoice thinking it was with that.

Just make sure they replace both hex bolts when they do the diff oil as they have seals on them both, I am sure they will but check the invoice, only about £3 each

It takes about 30 mins for a rear diff service and £60 worth of parts. Are you crazy?? How are they a good shop when they rip their customers off

Welcome to Bay Area, California! I called 3 of the known BMW indy's around here and this was the best quote.

Also paid $700 for spark plugs

I changed the engine oil in mine which wasn't hard but with the diff you really need a ramp and tricky to squeeze the fill pipe in there having the car level also

Wow, how much was it from the main dealer? Seems unreasonable if BMW were charging a comparably vast sum for typical servicing.

Oh that, a minute oil drip with 1700£ next to it, I changed the oil/ filter myself before and spilt a bit down the oil filter housing that's all, they saw a little dribble at the bottom of it that's all and for some reason put £1700 because of that... I don't frighten easily.Checked it again myself and it's bone dry there.
