The lip will reduce airflow and therefore cooling but it's probably minimal and wouldn't be noticed. The cooling on the F10 M5 is so good (IMO too good) that the concern for lost cooling is very minimal. In fact the gain in aero is probably well worth the loss in cooling. I remember I could overheat my E60 M5 in the summer running it hard. Impossible to come close to overheating my F10 M5. Then when you shut the car down for around 20 minutes it's almost back to cold start. Never owned a car that cooled as well as the F10 M5.

However, the air does not flow into the lower vent located beneath the car and out of the front bumper, but rather into the front bumper's center opening and is then evacuated out of the lower vent. The low pressure zone beneath the car encourages this effect. By adding a front spoiler to the front bumper we encourage the formation of a high pressure zone above the spoiler, and a low pressure zone below the spoiler. This reduces lift at the front of the car and improves the cars dynamics at high speed as a result. As an added benefit (and more relevant to this conversation), the high pressure zone at the front of the bumper encourages airflow through the coolers, and allows for better cooling performance at lower vehicle speeds. As an example, the BMW factory built E92 M3 GT4 race car has very similar cooling system packaging to the F10 M5 with respect to the positioning and placement of its coolers. The original BMW GT4 front spoiler also closes the space left by the "fangs" of the normal M front bumper, and this spoiler has proven to have no detrimental effect on the cars cooling system in the most dramatic racing conditions. |

Correct, this lip was an RKP original design. This lip is the first to follow and integrate with the original BMW front bumper's body lines, and allows for those lines to continue into the surface of the lip itself.
All RKP F10 M5 product is built here in the Midwest with US engineers and US labor:

BMW performance only offers carbon mirror covers and a trunk spoiler. Both come in a 2x2 carbon weave.

that looks fantastic. I would be seriously tempted to fit this but I am going for the CP M5 which has been lowered by 10mm and we have some ridiculous speed bumps here and ones that are in the middle of the road, especially in residential zones where your wheels have to straddle the hump... do you know what the ground clearance of the nose is with the lip fitted?

This photo really shows the clearance. The lip does not go lower than the OEM bumper cover-

I was actually going to do something similar to this with stripes but not so wide.
For the lower portion continue the stripes over the RKP Lip and nothing above the opening.

Not bad. The wheels are curiously attractive.
