10 Stinking Teslas... Where are the M5's
I live in the Huntington Harbour area of Orange County and it seems to be the Mecca of the Tesla S. I used to think the Tesla S was pretty cool but today alone I saw 10 Models S's while running errands. They are so common here it's becoming a little annoying. I've had my m5 for 4 months and yet to come across an M5 in my travels.
Sorry for the rant but I am so sick of these silent cars trying to rev (if you can call it revving) at lights and drag me. Don't get me wrong the performance model is fast but give me the sound of piped in V8 exhaust any day I know when shopping for my M5 the dealers had so many in stock... Are they still on the lots or do I just live amongst all the beautiful tree huggers of "the OC?" |

Go to irvine cars and coffee or join us for a mountain drive and you'll see lots of SoCal F10 M5s

Just made a tesla s driver cry on PCH near crystal cove. Off the line 3x had him by about 2 car lengths and on a roll it was 4 bus lengths. Maybe he needed a charge.

Not surprised. I've maintained that that infamous video of the Tesla beating the M5 was trumped up. Glad to see things set right IRL.

There are several Teslas in my neighborhood here in Northwest Austin and no M5's. I have yet to see an M5 in Austin. Probably the ones down on the track were the most we have seen other than mine. Boots bought one here and took it to Houston and I know that the dealer has only had two or three to sell. I think he sold one here and sent one away.
Hey, my car is unique but I was looking at the stats on the registry and the most M5's in any state are in CA, mostly in SC. |

I've only seen 1 Tesla on the road, It was recharging at a charging station here in RI. The Tesla is the trendy new thing. M5, is more of a gear head car guy thing for the MOST part.

Again sorry for the rant but I'm looking forward to that moment of giving a thumbs up to a fellow M5 owner.
I will have to make it to Irvine cars and coffee one of these days and I plan on doing the Vegas Targa so I am sure I will see some fellow M5's soon. For now I will just keep playing the "how many Teslas can you find game" with my boys on our way to school in the morning. In terms of drag results its a mixed bag. I have never been beat by one. A couple have been close (most likely performance model) and others I've smoked pretty bad. All the drivers have been super cool with big smiles and thumbs up. I sometimes feel like they must be showing the YouTube video of the Tesla beating an M5 on a continuous loop at the Fashion Island Mall dealership. They seriously hunt me down... LOL. It's a cool concept but I work for "Big Oil" and while I am all for doing our part for the environment I'd never be caught dead in one of them. For fuel economy I'd stick to the Turbo 4 bangers like the Abarth... Great MPG and incredible exhaust. Plus there is all this controversy of their network of supercharger stations throughout the states as some believe it will be detrimental to the batteries bypassing the charging units of the car to achieve such a fast charge. I know for a fact you won't see one in the Vegas Targa! |

Well get ready to see even more. I read something recently that said it had out sold the a8 and s class so far this year, I believe. It was one of the two for sure.

I do think however that Tesla is a good car company and is going to be the future of the auto industry. I don't plan on owning one anytime soon, but I wouldn't mind having one in conjunction with my M5 and my Abarth. Plus all of my stock in Tesla is making me a rich man! Lol! Have you seen my Mika and my Valentina before?

When Tesla starts making cheaper versions of the Model S (equivalent to a 3 or 5 series) they will start competing with those segments as well. They already have plans on producing an SUV in the near future also.

I was the one in your post asking if you had checked out 500 Madness in my neck of the woods and gotten the Magnetti Marelli tune on it. Have you? |

Ah dude, I want to get up there, but I just haven't had time. Been having too much fun with Mika screaming all over town I guess.
My girlfriend wants to go up there cause she wants an Abarth Coffee Mug or something to match her Abarth as well. LOL!

I think it's a great company and I love the tech involved... It's just losing some of its mystique now that its becoming so common. It's a lot if money for such a common car I guess is what I'm saying. |

I probably see 15+ Tesla's a day in San Francisco. It's not a bad looking car, but not something that was on my radar while I was considering my M5.

Example my buddy brought over his family in his new Ford Focus Electric... He asked if he could plug in so he could get back home after our BBQ. Plugged into my standard 120V for almost 5 hours he got an additional 6 miles. I was busting up... He didn't run the AC on way home and made it. I agree its the future but just not ready yet to make the jump. |
