Extended warranty on older M5?
I was looking at F10's and saw a few - found a 2014 with 40k mikes in it. It's low mileage fir a 2014 but can you get an extended warranty for something like this ??

I bought a 2016 m5 with 40k miles. Purchased a 5 year 50k mile through Ally for $5k. Negotiated the warranty with the dealer I bought the car from (non Bmw dealer). They originally started 5 year 50k @ $8500, negotiated them down to $5k with the sale of the car. Covers everything on the car (literally everything), $250 deductible, includes road side assistance/tow, car rental if it had to be in shop for extended period, trip insurance where they'll pay for hotel and a few other things if car has an issue 90 miles away from home and a few other benefits. I have not used it yet for M5 but my buddy had Ally for his c63 and they covered every issue he had with no push back (his car was stage 2).
Does not cover maintenance like oil changes or brakes. |

Recently purchased a 2013 M5 from a private seller. Top of the list was finding a good extended warranty. I was able to get the top level coverage through Patriot Warranty (Patriot Premiere Elite) for $2795 fully up front:
5 yr/65k miles $0 Deductible Free Roadside Rental coverage Travel reimbursement if stranded $150 in oil change rebates Free tire/wheel damage coverage I felt like it was a great deal and provides much needed peace of mind for a used M5. If anyone has horror stories from Patriot Warranty, please don't let me know. I'm past the refund period and would like to remain blissful in my ignorance. |

That sounds like a really good deal on the M5 warranty my mother has a 2016 535IM sport that only has 27,000 miles on it the CPO warranty is about to expire and the dealership wanted to sell her their in-house warranty through Hendrix automotive they want about $5000 for a four year 48,000 mile warranty that effectively covers only the powertrain brakes suspension general electrical components and the air conditioning it excludes all of the higher ticket items like sensors computers and navigation stereo etc.
that seemed kind of expensive to drop $5000 for a warranty that will only get 48,000 more miles on a car with such low miles.

Has anyone been able to purchase a decent exclusionary warranty after purchase of the vehicle and where from?

You might want to speak with the service dept of the dealer or independent shop you plan to work with. If they have a warranty they sell, they can probably give you a good deal on it, and they can tell you which companies hey have a good relationship with - ie who pays the claim without a big f***ing hassle? Oftentimes the service writer will know how to finesse the paperwork so that a claim will be covered, instead of considered wear and tear. And he'll maybe be more likely to do that for you if you buy thru his company and develop a relationship with him.
