Need help with ngk spark plug gap .022 and rough idle
So my JB4 arrived and i intended to install it this weekend. I went through a couple weeks back and installed new ngk 97506 gapped down to .022 woth no issues. The coils were replaced with new Delphi coils (2016 year so swaped with what was in there). I am now all of a sudden having intermittent rough idle. Its very minor, but jumps 100rpms or less. Is this due to the decreased gaps?
Anyone running .022 have this symptom or am i experiencing something else? Ive had the ngk plugs in for about 500 miles and it is just now doing it. No codes or driveability issues. |

I spoke with my tuner before going with colder plugs gapped tighter and he said the only downside is the potential for a rougher idle. Every once in awhile, my car has a minor rough idle, similar to what you describe. It's barely noticeable if you're not looking at the tach and always goes away by the next time I start the car. I read many people on the forums have experience the same thing. If it gets worse and gets annoying, potential fixes per my research are cleaning/replacing the MAF sensors or the O2 sensors. I haven't found this to be necessary on my car though.

I think i may increase my gap to .026 and see if that helps. I plan to increase boost, but nothing crazy so im thinking a decrease from factory .032 to .026 should be adequate for the slight boost increase without the intermittent rough idle.

I think the idle issues were primarily due to the kn drop in filter. Everything was perfectly smooth today with the increased gaps and paper filters. Guess im good to go with the jb4 tomorrow.
