Yes very nice. Saw a nice one at MB Beverly Hills today. Unfortunately had everything except the Premium Pack. Very weird build. Very cool dealership too. Hadn't been there before but has an outstanding selection.

My dealer back east is now offering me the same deal on any in stock car, but unfortunately he doesn't have a SKU I like.

Thumbs up M5 vs E63

Your new Benz is amazing. I had both the M5 and the E. As much as I am a BMW guy, the Benz offers a lot of percs as well. Particularly the larger displacement engine and more elegant and aesthetically pleasing interior.

Nice pic!

Thanks but the M5 actually has the bigger displacement than my car (4.4 vs 4.0)

A quick follow up to my short ownership with the car:

Ill do a quick comparo to the tuned RS7 I have (my E63S is tuned too).

Clearly the gains in the tune on the RS7 are greater thru the usable rpm ranges and even peak. Im not sure if this is just a time thing where the tuners have more work to do to untap the M177 engine in the E63S.

Launch: It would be a very close race here. Both cars grip and go and the tq in the RS7 is felt just a bit more but tq is deceiving and not the absolute in speed definition. I would guess both cars are sub 3 seconds to 60 in repetitive conditions. Stock vs stock the cars are rather evenly matched.

Rolling Speed: This is the tricky one as the RS7 Tq curve is as flat as a woman with 32A's. So while the speed grows and the tq pulls- its probably barely faster than my E63S but only because of the net numbers being higher in hp/tq post tune. Stock vs stock the E63S will pull the RS7 no problem. The MCT 9 Speed is more efficient than the ZF8 and the data/tests prove as such.

Handling: Tune or not the E63S is the better car here. The weights are similar but the feel of the E63S, at times, feels like my GTS. Its very planted and firm for its weight and there is minimal understeer in higher speed turns and bends. Its more of sports sedan with luxury while the RS7 is more of a GT cruiser. I can enter and leave turns at higher speeds on the same roads with the E. The confidence factor is here where the weight is not felt (as much) Again the proof is the tests and I back those up with my personal thoughts.

I love driving both after parking the other. They both have different dynamics tuned; the RS7 is brutal with heavy tq thrusts and pulls while the E63S (still torquey) uses its more effective hp in the higher rpm range to accelerate. There are alot of RS7's pulling higher 10's with tune only on 93 octane and the E63S is just getting started but I do think the trap speed on the RS7 at the quarter will be just a small amount faster. How the cars would fare past that is a crap shoot with maybe the E pulling beyond by a nose.

Impressive how competitive the RS7 is, given how many years ago they designed it. The next RS7 should be out in a couple of years.

Well most of my thoughts are up and down this thread but thus far its a riot of a car. The tq transfer to 100% in the back makes it feel like a RWD car but with the knowledge of AWD grip at all times. Its a well built machine inside and out.

Ill be honest, its a little more of a subdued look but after the lowering and the matte paint, this exact version is perfect for me.

With the tq split running to the rear when Im rolling, the pulls dont feel like the RS7 (as I mentioned) but the speeds are rapid and the car doesnt get bogged down like the old AWD cars Benz had due to parasitic loss.

Vic, have you had any trouble with the brakes?
Motortrend really criticized the E63's brakes, although I believe something was seriously wrong with the unit they tested (in grip and braking). Oddly enough, Car and Driver/ Road and Track skidpad and braking numbers are better (braking is substantially better).

By the way, cancelled my order on the E63. Car got delayed to March, and the dealer had told me a lot of B.S. that wasn't real as I found out later. I am probably buying a used one, since it depreciates 40% in the First Year of Ownership in my side of the pond

The ZF8 and the 4.0TT engine make out a pretty impressive combo. What disappointed me in the RS7, when I drove it on track in Audi Experience Event, was the sensation of heavy front-end and body roll on the limit. It is not nimble, although it is an effective high speed killer. It is insanely fast even stock (I suspect the Performante kicks the M5 F10's ass, no matter if it is CP, non CP, or even Jahre). It also barks, and has an angry snarl/growl under power.

I believe though that as a street car, for someone who likes to push it only eventually (and not 10/10's), it is possibly even better than the E63 S as it is more supple and it handles beautifully (Performante, the standard one I thought it was crap) up to 8/10's.

Hey Carlos, I saw that Motortrend Head2Head against the Caddy CTS V where the braking distance was way off. I think it was "one off" as you alluded to with the other tests showing great numbers. As for my car, I have the CCCB's and they have been flawless, under cold usuage and heavy presses thru the canyon. I did bed them at mile 11 so there should be no squeaks and thus far they are quiet.

Thats unfortunate about your car... Im sure you will see a few samples, used, pop up soon.
