Brake fluid/ dealership mishap

Hello all,

I took my F10 M5 for her annual service here in the UK, what started off as routine service soon turned ugly.

I was informed some how during the last service or at some unspecified time the cap on top the brake fluid resovoir was not screwed on but placed next to it and the protective cover placed on top of the housing. As a result moisture has entered the system causing some damage.

The dealership has informed me they are unable to flush the old brake fluid out the system for some reason and I would have to change parts of the braking system (ABS) in the worse cause scenario.

I am waiting for Monday when they try again to change the fluid and find out more. I was wondering if anyone out there has had any similar experience.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

I would have thought the BMW? dealer would have to stump up the cost if parts were needed as it was his techs' forgetfulness.Don't want to seem prying but had it not been noticed that the cap was not in place when checking levels etc throughout the year since the last service visit.

Sounds like typical dealer BS. There's no reason why they shouldn't be able to flush the system with new fluid. I can understand them theorizing that they won't easily be able to remove ALL of the moisture/fluid, but that shouldn't mean replacing otherwise good parts. What "damage" did they say was done?

Unfortunately the dealer just has to say they put it back on and how can you prove it wasn't you who unscrewed it.

I never check my brake fluid level as just assume its OK, maybe I should.

I would go to BMW UK and complain and see how that goes.

How old is the car?
