First time using Bimmercode: SUCCESS!! (Things I've noticed)

Just wanted to share my experience with Bimmercode. Purchased the OBD2 dongle on Amazon and paid for the full version of the APP. Easy.

-I put a trickle charger on my car overnight and battery was at 100%
-Left the trickle charger on the car and just turned on the "position1" without starting the car and left the driver door open.
-Turned Airplane mode on my phone (you must do this to avoid any interruptions during the coding process from phone calls, text messages, etc.)
-Opened the app and started coding away.
-During the process, my dash often switched on and off and at times errors would light up the dash like a Christmas tree (it works itself out but it gave me a heart attack nonetheless.)
-After I was done coding, I unpaired the dongle and the phone, removed the dongle, shut the car completely off, restarted it, and everything went back to normal.

Odd things that happened:
1) The dash lit up like a Christmas tree with every error you can think of (no worries, this is a part of the coding process).
2) All of my radio settings went bye-bye.
3) I had a Driver Side Restraint System Malfunction light that was always on and was driving me nuts (caused by a detailer who steam cleaned my seats) and after the coding, the light went away.

I am over the moon on how easy it is to code with just an app and a dongle and about 70 or so dollars invested. Unlike CARLY would have cost me hundreds and their ratings have tanked. Plus for some reason it got rid of that annoying SRS Light and code (I don't know how the heck that happened).

I just coded all the easy stuff but now I can experiment at my own leisure.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to those on the fence of getting this coding APP.

I have also used this on many BMWs including the M5 and it works really well. First thing I coded was stop/start to always off.

Similar experience with Bimmercode for me on my F10 comp. The previous owner had already turned on the memory feature for the auto start/stop which is fine. I disabled the active sound and few other things. It's been a good experience so far!

I have disabled active sound. Start/Stop to OFF and afew other things = Xmas start up greeting, because the mrs loved it haha!

I don't get any error codes on dash etc, my systems just shut down then start back up with no issues! Love it.

I even tried coding the Active Sound to sound like an M3, it wasn't great though!

Next things I want to code is:

-DVD in Motion (but I have the DVD player system with the screens in the headrest, need to find out if coding the main I-drive screen will affect the rear players)
-Start/Stop Off
-Some lighting bits

Attached are pics for a member who had questions about the trickle charger I was using.

I have the charger attached on the days that I do not drive the car because these cars are prone to electrical gremlins and other shenanigans when the batteries run low... the former owner did this as well...

I also had a great experience using Bimmercode. I would recommend to anybody looking to do coding to their M5.

Which setting codes out ASD?

In the Demo mode, there's an option "Active Sound Design Deactivation" with only 2 choices. When connected to the car, that option is not there anymore. I can only go to Expert mode and lists all of the categories "Model Range, Engine, Audio Level, Power Class, Comp Paket, Country Variant, Construction Stage, UNBELEGT". Which to change to disable it?

If I remember correctly there was an on/off tab in the full version to shut down the ASD... not sure about the demo version...

Yeah I bought the full version, but there was no easy on/off like I've seen posted by some others. However I did found it in expert mode:

Headunit HU_NBT
3000 HMI
search for ASD
ASD_SOUND_OFF
Default is "not aktiv" change to "aktiv" and now it's off. Much better and not as droney (is that a word?)

On both my old 2013 and current 2015 M5s the start/stop has always been set to off. I thought only the non-M cars had to have the button pressed with each use of the car, but the Ms kept the setting stored once the button was initially pressed. Curious about why some folks have to code this in.

This is how my '16 M5 "behaves", no need to code for me

I think it may not be necessary but it is satisfying to change the coding so that the start up state is "off" instead of the factory set "use state from last shutdown".

There was no specific slider tab to clear anything however when the unit codes it says on the screen "clearing errors" to all the dash lights that popped up. Im just saying my DRSM light cleared itself..

I guess I shall order a trickle and buy the full version. Called my Sales Agent and he said "sure they can clear it for you, but they will charge you"...having the F10 for less than 1 month...ok, I see M Tax is real LOL.

Hi I am new here and joined because of similar problem as yours above (mine is Passenger instead of Driver). Not sure if it is because of detailing I did in a shop last week. But I am interested what code exactly you put to get rid of this annoying message?

Thanks a ton!

The app clears all of the codes automatically after it finishes coding.
