Remapped and Wow! (UK)

Had my car remapped (stage 1) just before the lockdown so havent
had too many chances yet to drive it, but - Wow!
What a difference!
I was expecting it to feel faster but not as fast as it is

Yes! I agree, it's not really an adult thing to do is it?
The car is more powerful than most and faster than could ever be needed, even in standard trim. However, petrol heads will always want more!
I had the car mapped at Morebhp in Crewe.
Suffice to say the results are pretty remarkable.

Great numbers!
Mine came back with 702cv (692bhp)
Torque is insane!
No clutch slip yet but may consider clutch upgrade if necessary.

Yes, I did some research on the clutch upgrade before the remap.
Not cheap but a nice upgrade.
Torque came in at 900Nm @ 3000rpm.

I sould say that remapping may not be for everyone. More power and more torque sounds great. But, in everyday driving it's just not necessary. Also, due to limits of traction, care is required. I inadvertently broke traction, in a straight line, at 70mph.
I'm lucky enough that my M5 is a bit of a hobby car.
I owe nothing on it. It's not my daily driver so, if things go pete tong (e.g. new clutch required), I wont be too inconvenienced.
I wouldn't take the chance if it's your only transport and reliability is king.

Definitely right about breaking traction at higher speeds. I'm running bm3 stage 1 93oct and Michelin Pilot sport 4s 305 tyres and I break traction at 70mph.

Stage 1 puts very little extra strain on the car in reality, 90% of the time you drive it normally anyway.

I have now! (tyres, that is).
I agree that most of the time the car isn't stretched.
I just wonder for those who may be stretching themselves (budget wise)
and may also be without warranty, that a few hundred on a map may be tempting.
It is a fantastic bang for buck. Just needs a bit of mechanical sympathy.
Maybe also a rainy day fund!

I think a stage 1 map is a definite the car is absolutely rapid standard but that extra power for not alot of cash is just too tempting. Also why is everyone against mapping in the uk unless it's done by evolve? Just asking as gonna ask my usual mapper if he does it the same way if you know what I mean

I'm very tempted myself. I just need to figure out if I want to go down the decat road! Evolve would be my preferred tuner personally. They are a decent professional company with proven results. I'm a bit old fashioned and would prefer to deal with a person with a reputation over some stranger off the internet.
