How are you? Can you elaborate a bit on what DCT issues you were having? Thanks, Brad

1) Trans heat problems, even after installing upgraded clutches, we still had issues with clutch slipping. 2) Software issue with the tune, the trans would kick into neutral during a 5th or 6th gear pull on the dyno. Upgraded cooler installed and some last minute dyno work and now the car is making over 880rwtq on the dyno and after a few test hits on the street, the trans is holding strong |

Installing the DCT Cooling Package was one of the first things I did for my build. No problems whatsoever with the DCT and high torque applications. It's essential.
For the next generation F90 M5 with is ZF Auto Transmission, "they" (future owners who plan to mod) are going to probably have a tougher time with the transmission if power and torque are upgraded through modding. The 2015 Corvette Z06 with the 8Spd Auto experienced this problem on stock power and torque. Basically, the next M5 will need better tranny cooling once people start modding that engine (which by the way will come with an all new protection and encryption from BMW). So yeah good luck to future F90 M5 owners. Lol! This is a good read on what happened with the Z06 Vette and its 8Spd Auto. http://www.tflcar.com/2015/09/2015-c...issions-fault/ Here are some cliff notes: The Z06 Automatic transmission put in “Drive” selects the lowest possible gear ratio for best acceleration, and because it has 8 closely-spaced ratios typically runs higher average RPM than the manual. This optimizes lap time performance, but also taxes the engine oil and coolant more for any given track. So the automatic has the capability to run faster laps than the manual, but thermal limitations are reached more quickly. Customers who are planning to run extended track-day sessions at ‘professional’ speeds, are advised to go with the manual transmission, or to paddle shift the automatic and select higher gears when conditions warrant it.

Dont get me wrong! In all honesty I would love to see more Built M5's breaking hearts and Sleepin on the poe poe's . Let me know when you start your build thread and I'll subscribe for sure! Allmotor's Is a cool guy as well. He is very informative and his knowledge about the F10 M5 is amazing. We may be after his current goals but its all for the sake of research so at the end of the day we can ALL have bad ass M5's that will embarrass most exotics while picking up a full load of groceries |
