Liquid Molly Review

I just put Liquid Moly 2030 Pro-Line Fuel System Cleaner, 500 ml and man what a difference. I never really used additives before; but I will definitely start using this cleaner. Question is, when would you need to use something like this in your gas tank? Are other people having good results like I did. I drive a BMW M5 F10 Competition 2015. Thanks for the feedback.

When I switched to liquid molly in my 13M5 I noticed the temp gauge went slightly higher when running it even a little hard. I got rid of the car about 500 miles after oil change in May so that was only thing I noticed. My ind bmw specialist highly recommended it though.

Shell v-power and Texaco with techron already have fuel cleaning additives in them.

Quantity and quality. Most all of the Top Tier gasoline have detergent additives in them, but they are all not the same type and/or quantity. Techron is admittedly perhaps the best detergent additive.

The attendant at Costco tells me (because they are the ones at every Costco gas station that actually adds the additives when the fuel trucks deliver the fuel) they put in 5X the number dtergent additives to qualify for the Top Tier Gasoline designation. I usually go out of my way to top off there as much as I can. Cool thing is, for our Buick Enclave that only requires regular, Costo still adds additives to it whereas most places, you only get the additives when you buy the premium. And I don't think I've ever found a price that beats Costco, as well. I can nearly get Costco premium for the same price as most others regular.

Even with all that said, I still add a little Redline SI-1 Complete Fuel System Cleaner at every fill. I've been using it since my days in Corvette when I came across a review in the Corvette Action Center that essentially said it was safe and good for all model year Corvettes. While the Liqu-Moly 2030 Pro-Line fuel system cleaner is good, I suggest the Redline is even better. (I buy it by the case off Amazon and share it with my Dad.)

Not all fuel system cleaners are the same, and the one you want is the one with the most amount of polyetheramine, or PEA. New Gumout All in One fuel system cleaner advertises PEA right on the front of the bottle, and the bottle is actually designed to be able to be used in a capless fuel tank, which is convenient.

While the exact percentages are subject to trade secrets, most MSDS still list an approximate percentage by content of the ingredients. I like Gumout's promotion of PEA but if you find a product that has more PEA than Redline SI-1, (<30%) let me know.

In my Yukon Denali L86, I add a bottle maybe every 3,000 miles, but for S63tu, I try and add a quarter of a bottle with every fill. My M5 has just under 10,000 miles and still looks like it could sit in the showroom floor. I don't drive it daily so I try and charge the battery one monthly at least, and the little bit of additive on top of Costco premium is a small price to pay for the assurance that I'm doing nothing but good for the fuel system et al.

Costco does not add there own additive, they are considered a mid tier gasoline because they add 3 times the generic additive that ALL gasoline has in it. This is added at the terminal rack, and splash blended in the tank. The name brands, shell, chevron, Exxon etc have there own additive also added to all there gas.

Quick trip and 76 are also mid tier, 3 times spicy

I have never heard of mid tier, it's either you are Top Tier rated by EPA or you aren't.

Mid tier is a term used in the industry for brands that add more of the generic addictive to fuel. There are only a handful of companies that actually have there own additive (Shell, Exxon etc). Everyone else uses a generic formula. Costco use the generic formula but adds more of it. Just like 76, and and few others. Kroger gas for example only has 1 time the generic additive. Same additive as Costco, just not as much.
