100k mile updates

Knock on wood but.. 102500 miles and everything is going strong. No rattles, no shakes, no codes or lights. Everything works, idle steady, power all there. Stock, no tunes or mods... tempting though.

Regular maintenance... same for any car:
Oil changes (Liqui Moly)
Spark plugs
Ignition coils
Tires
Brakes / Rotors
Air filters

Unexpected repair:
Turbo coolant lines. $50 kit from BMW parts counter.

Unexpected breakdown at about 80k miles:
Fuel sending unit had to be replaced... Probably my fault. I let it hit empty too often and it likely overheated.. this is a thirsty car. Especially with a daily commute. $150 part for DIY but I went with the dealership as I wasn't sure what the problem was... $1,400

Known issues:
I'm told the oil pan gasket is starting to leak a bit. But no drops on the floor. Yet. I'm told these 2 piece oil pans leak on every single car.

It's been surprisingly easy on the wallet to own. Especially if you can do some regular DIY maintenance.

Anyone have any personal experiences with other 100k+ mile F10 M5 repairs to look out for?

I need more of these stories and a 120 proof drink after reading the seized engine posts on here.

Congrats on the milestone. Your post mirrors what I've seen. I haven't heard of additional problems related to higher mileage but no personal experience either. My F10 shares daily duty with an e39 M5 to keep the miles down on the F10. She only sees about 15k a year so I'm at 65k. Spark plugs, a couple coils, fluids and filters and the turbo coolant lines. My only other failure was the B&O amp died.

Congrats again and check in with us when you hit 150k ;-)

About every 8,000 miles. I'm about due for the next one now. It would be fun to send in an oil sample and see what they find.

Yes it would be interesting, regular oil changes seem so important and 5-8K seems about right

Just by driving it regularly in the highway and doing regular oil changes, will make your BMW problem free.

The rest are inevitable for all cars. Ownership has its inherent risks.

Stock. It's so easy to grab bootmod3 and load an aggressive tune. I'll probably eventually cave and go for it.

No DCT service at all. Same fluids, same clutch, and no problems so far.

The DCT has always been clunky in traffic. I get why they changed it to an auto in the F90. I constantly override it with the paddles. But the DCT is one of the things I love about the M5. It sets it apart from a "normal" drive, gets me involved, and I love the brutal shifts.

Despite driving the same car for years.. I haven't got bored or tired of it.

I do split the miles with a 2017 Civic so that helps keep perspective

Probably best to keep it stock...That decision seemed to serve you to 100k!

I think with proper warm up and regular oil changes and generally having some common sense with regards to maintenance generally they are reliable cars tuned or stock.

The issue is most people these days don't have common sense
