I love that the Ferrari guy said that while both of mine don't have it (headliners yes). Its all personal opinion and I don't base the feel as track necessity at all. Seat material is clearly subjective. My GT3 is alcantara and so is the Black Series but the others are supple leather which I enjoy too.

Congrats btw. I am getting bored of my F10 M5. Was going to look at f80 m3.. Why was it the one you didn't purchase? But deep down my heart wants me to pull the trigger on one of those gt3's that are all over ebay

F80 M3? I only drove it once on a test drive and then a few more times via a friend's ownership... great car for the money with looks to add. But this car is awesome with the AMG experience from the gound up: exhaust, steering, handling, transmission (finally), and looks. The interior is incredible too. I ripped it today to 140 plus on some open roads the tq is amazing along with the lighter weight. And since I knew the tunes would be out soon I had to acquire.... but I just got something else that's quite possibly even better

Have you flashed the car yet with the weistec tune? If so any comments on the before and after

Also I must ask out of all these cars you've bought and sold why has the 2012 C63 Black Series stuck around the longest by far?! You have gotten rid of some serious sports cars but haven't seen the c63BS move I've heard its an amazing car that feels like a huge go kart just curious.

Ill comment when I get the flash but Weistec is moving this week so hopefully next week or the following.

The C63 is a keeper- the last Black Series in the N/A line up and the wide flares, suspension set up (oem coilovers), that 6.2 liter N/A sounding machine, etc. While I have dumped faster, I have not necessarily dumped better. Performance numbers are but one aspect and the all too subjective "reward" and "feel" apply as well. Yes it handles like a go kart- the counter steering aspects in the rwd car are actually tons of fun on the open road.

Got the car tuned yesterday- awesome!!!

Here is my post on the Benz Board:

After seeing the Weistec thread here about their tune and headers; I had to go to their shop and see what it was all about. The benefit that I have is they are local to me so I can see what goes in behind their business and projects as well. I met with Steve the owner and he took me for a tour of their new facility. Its an amazing set up with floors so clean you could eat off them.


Anyways on to the tune- first they let me drive their car. Their shop car has both the tune and the down pipes. This thing is a beast. Remember that the GTS is much much lighter than the M157 cars and even the C Class AMG's. It also has the DCT tranny (Dual Clutch) so it transfers power much more efficiently to the ground and has incredibly fast shift speeds. So mate up all these advantages plus the tune and down pipes and the shop car RIPS!! The thing has to be close to a 130 mph trapper and low 11's or even possibly a high 10 second car. But the sound- wow the sound. So for us owners we all know the GTS sounds stupid good but this thing takes it up probably 50% if not more in decibels. But it keeps the same tone; the pops, barks, crackles, explosions though are all amplified. So suffice it to say my test drive was strong and I was sold.


I decided to just do the tune right now but will do the down pipes at some point soon. I think I like having my Huracan as the loudest car and this one will get in 2nd place. If I do the down pipes I think it would be a toss up on whats louder. Sorry no sound clips on either car but Steve can probably link one in.


I did a before and after dyno just because I wanted to see the "sweet spot" gains. Clearly this tune is a street tune with top rpm gains as well. The biggest gains in tq and hp (about 100 hp and 130 tq) are in the most usable areas of the rpm range and wow you can feel it. My short drive home yielded some open stretches and I found myself clearly going faster than I have in this car. Race mode is terribly exciting and S+ is so easy and useful. The tune changes the throttle response as well which I love. The GTS has minimal throttle lag anyways and anything perceptible is now gone. Whats also great about the tune is Steve was able to make some adjustements to create louder backfires and barks. I guess there is a metric in the ECU for this. He even told me he could set it up to shoot flames LOLOLOL but that would burn out my cats


Anyways, I highly recommend this tune if you want even more out of this amazing car. You can easily overnight the ecu (simple removal) or if you are local just stop at the shop. Another cool bit was a mother and son came up in the fathers GTS to get a tune for him (Fathers Day gift)- very cool.


I attached the dyno sheet. It was a hotter day out here yesterday but all I care about is before and after. Remember this car is supposed to have 503 hp and 476 lb/ft of tq at the crank and now I have peak hp at 536 and peak tq at 593. But peak isn't the key here just look at the balloons and that's what really counts. The gains are consistent thru the range and that's what makes the car pull even harder. Steve did say the OEM turbos are a bit small so there is only so much he can safely get out of the car at the top but stay tuned for a Weistec turbo upgrade.


AMG got it right with the car and Weistec made it even better.

Thanks Dave, it really is now and once I do the DP's its going be down right rude!! I love that Benz has tunes so quickly for their cars, Weistec has had access to the M178 engine for almost a year so Steve (owner) was really able to delve into the sublte adjustments to keep the tune fluid and safe** (key for me).

Weistec are top-notch, Vic. I was thinking of going with some major upgrades from them on my '08 CLK BS, but unfortunately didn't keep the car long enough.

They are housing Jim's car there fastest street Benz (CLK BS) trapping around 155 mph in the 1/4. Its still an excellent car. That is one model I didnt get; I was leaning to getting one in 2007 in Mars Red but passed on it and got an M6 instead LOL.

Hey Vic.... Sorry to throw your thread off, but a good friend of mine just got an s63 coupe and we have no clue how to turn off ESP or traction control... We had renntech flash ecu and the launch still seems off... Let me know... Thanks...

Turn on the car- press AND hold the ESP button down until the dash shows it as being "off". It usually takes about a 2-3 second press. If you press for an instant then you will get ESP Sport which is a great mode too.

But either way with an S63 AWD and Renntech you should have no issues launching it in any mode sans C (comfort).

If its completely off then traction is defeated... careful in wet (well your friend has awd and that system is still splitting front and rear)
