Perhaps downpipes, exhaust, and a tune should close the gap. I haven't encountered any new 991 turbos yet but it seems like they are a lot faster then the previous gen. Maybe starting in 2nd with him not getting the jump would have been closer? I raced a 997 Turbo vert from 2nd and pulled on him when I was stock. 3rd gear is a lot stronger since with the DP and exhaust. I wonder how much they are actually putting out at the crank. Because Porshe only seems to rate them at 520? I would suspect its underrated.

All this turbo talk has me thinking- my dealer just offered me a free turbo build (no dep) for March delivery but I have my GT3 slated for June.

I love this dillemma

Get a Porsche! Im personally blown away with my Turbo! do it!

Yep. My local dealer offered me a deal on a canceled Turbo order too the day after I put the deposit on the GT3. I'm sticking. Thing is that the Turbo is just not as high demand as an S and if I want to move up later to a Turbo I will and at a better deal a year from now. Still though I think I would have to have the S. Those are just ridiculous!

Yeah man. They are nuts. The M has no chance. I wouldn't line my M6 up next to one even with the DP. When buying my 991 a sales guy and I raced the M6 (before DP) against a regular C4S. Slow rolls and from a dig the P car wins. High speed rolls M car jumps 1.5 lengths but P car hangs. Now add a Turbo to the P car and it's not even close.

For those who either own or are looking at the 991 Turbo (w/Sport Chrono) or Turbo S I was wondering is the extra 25K worth it for the S? That is a chunk of change for what Porsche rates at just .1 seconds quicker and 40 extra HP. Also just 2mph difference in top end not that anyone really ever pulls the 195+ on the roads in these things all that often

That's it. I bought the Cali to sell no matter what. We still have the M6 cab and the truck.

I think the Turbo S package includes an lot of additional options as standard like CCB etc.

It is more than just a tune.

Its basically every add on option that the non S needs... PDCC, Sports Chrono, PCCB"S, 20 inch Turbo wheels, interior luxuries etc

But with that being said one can build and order a very nice non S for about 165k sans PCCB's (if they dont track) and then can be a few tics slower thru the speeds and one less letter on the rear deck. Its all relative to what one wants.

Here is a build of a very nice loaded non S that is about 30k lighter:
