Instrument panel dimming
I know this is in the wrong section but I really need an answer and this is more active than coding.
Basically, I hate the auto dimming instrument panel, does anyone know if this can be coded to stay in one position? Thanks |

If you find the dial near the headlight switch, put it on max position of the dial..

You know I have never noticed my dash "auto dim." It always stays same brightness that I have it set at, unless I never noticed it.

Mine goes really dim sometimes then goes back to normal, sometimes its really bright and looks great.
i thought this would be an easy problem to rectify via coding but wasnt able to find an option. hoping somebody else knows. |

I have definitely never noticed that in my M5. Mine is always super bright. I wonder if your dimmer switch is acting up.

M5 F10 still is King.
yup the coding is there but for some reason it's not mentioned in handbook, go into menu, settings then control display and adjust the bar.I turned mine up to max,you can do the HUD at the same time also adjust its height and angle.

Ok so when you adjust the bar to max it stays in the same condition you describe dimming and getting bright at irregular intervals or can you not adjust the bar at all.

There is a 'secret menu' on Bm,s where you may cancel out the auto dim feature if that's what it is.Get in the car shut the door and start the engine, keep pressing the mileage cancel button until it comes up.From there you get a plethora of options including one LCD adjust though I don't know if its for what you have got.

It does that on mine but it doesn't bother me and its not a fault just that the ambient lighting and dash lights are connected as one which is why you can't easily adjust the dash brightness separately at times unless your headlights are on, seems strange they did it this way. As a last resort there may be a software update that Bm dealer should do to help you..I read on another thread ista/p 2.54.0 is a later software update to make the ambient lighting brighter therefore the dash lights brighter too though it may or may not defeat the auto dimming. You cannot do it by yourself.
