Currently trying out Trader Joe's "highland 12" and "speyside 13" for $29. Great daily drivers lol.

Also sometimes you gotta just drink the cheap cheap stuff aka henny and makers

But why do I keep seeing the words ice, mix, water? None of that. Enjoy the taste. Cheers!
FYI not available in CT.

That's cheap for an 18!

Or maybe it's SoCal hipster tax around here.

Anyone try Whistle Pig?

At the liquor store and Bevmo in my neighborhood they have some fancy American stuff that is pretty pricey. Can't get myself to pull the trigger though. Prob had a lot more bite to it then I expect from something pricey.

Any recommendations?

It's a CT-wide thing. Super strict state.

The Knob Creek Single Barrel isn't bad. Just a hint of smoke, more on the nose than the tongue. Missing that sweet finish you get with Aberlour or Macallan.

I may have been thinking of the Aberlour 16 at around $80.

Mea culpa. Still a damn fine bottle.

I'm not a huge fan of bourbon or whiskey, but keep some on hand for guests. I just remembered a particular whiskey that is pretty amazing. Incredibly smooth, slightly sweet finish: Collinwood. Definitely give it a shot.

Basil Haydens

http://www.basilhaydens.com/

HISTORY

In 1796, Master Distiller Basil Hayden Sr. broke 'the rules' by mixing small grains into the mash of a traditional corn base. A Maryland transplant unafraid to stand out amidst the residing establishment, Basil conjectured that the spicy flavor of rye would be a striking complement to the sweet smoothness of corn in his distillery's standard bourbon. And much to the chagrin of the traditionalist set, Basil was right. His recipe was a masterpiece, resulting in a unique, singular small batch bourbon whiskey that was blessed with rich hints of peppermint, notes of pepper, slight citrus overtones, and a spicy, warming finish.

Artfully aged at a relatively mild 80 proof, Basil Hayden'sŪ is as novel and delectable a bourbon whiskey as it was when the master distiller rolled out his first barrel over 200 years ago. Marked by a rich cascade of aromas and flavors, Basil Hayden'sŪ is still a small batch bourbon, but with broader appeal. And just as it was in 1796, the only 'rule' to enjoying our Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey is that it should be done responsibly.

Haven't had the single barrel knob creek or the makers 46. Like the original of both a lot.

A friend gave me some of this Monkey 47 Gin. Incredible. Never had Gin like that. I think someone who is not a fan of Tanqueray or Bombay(or gin in general) will change their opinion of gin after trying this. Very smooth, not hot, with a wonderful fragrant note of fresh juniper..which is very different than the floral dry juniper taste. I like all spirits, but this is one of the best I have ever tasted. Just neat, room temp...heavenly!

Saw this the other day and was wondering about it. Now I have to remember where I saw it.
