So Verstappen tops the time sheets and so wins the first day of testing.
Obviously Red Bull are cheating like crazy and if they can't win this years championships then both their drivers are a pair of grandmas.

Merc got blown PU's on the test-bench during the winter . Too much was squeezed out of it .Running out of juice !
I heard the W12's PU is over-tuned . They absolutely want that 8th world title .
It's actually a everything or nothing . Like blow or win ...

That's why MAX ran today 137 laps to show how reliable the new HONDA PU really is !

I've said before even with their split turbo and the mysterious 'magic mode' there is only so much that the Merc engine block can take.
Couldn't help thinking the 16B will be carried on for Max from the recent Abu Dhabi where he cruised to an easy win, Merc could be in some trouble.

I'm curious to learn more about the Merc early issues with the engine (even though McLaren had already posted video of their startup before that was announced), and now the issues with the gearbox (which Toto apparently said came out of nowhere, but I'm guessing so did the sensor issues from last year right?).

Indeed , last year the issue was a sensor . A gearbox sensor was sensitive for extreme vibrations over the curbs .
I'm pretty sure , today it was a worse . Because a gearbox replacement was required .

Exactly my friend . HONDA got it completely right in the last race in Abu Dhabi .
As I said Abu Dhabi is a Merc power track . But MAX pulled so easy and relaxed away .
Even the 16 top speed was improved ,the gap on BOT was 15 + sec.
It could have been 20 + sec. And HONDA build further from there and added another 40+ HP !
The 16B HONDA PU sounds even more aggressive and the gearbox is a masterpiece .
