which PSdZdata CAFD files
Guys, which PSdZdata are you using for the 2013 M5 DIY programming? I've got the 46.3 and seems like the 46.3 is missing some cafd files needed by the 2013 M5. Has anybody used the newer 48.2 or 48.3 PSdZdata?

I've only used 48.1 since Dec 20.
Here is the content of the CAFD subfolder if it is helpful to you. Last edited by johntomferg; 03-16-2013 at 06:19 AM.. |

johntomferg, thanks for the info. So are you using E-sys 3.22.5 with the 48.1? Do you know if I can still use E-Sys 3.18.4 with the 48.x. Also, I believe there is already a version 49 of the PSdZdata.

Yes I am about to "upgrade" to 49.1 , Shawn now also has two options a lite (no ECU FW) and the full set of files . The lighter one is smaller and copies faster.
So far 48.3 has worked fine for me . If you encounter any missing CAFD file errors just copy the missing file from another source (we can also post it) to your PC

Thanks. I myself am moving over to E-Sys 3.22.x and PSdZdata 49.x to enable new features for the F10. The version I have, 3.18.x and 46.x are somewhat outdated.

I'm using 48.3 with 3.18.
I've heard some people had problems with 3.22.

johntomgerg, I have a question regarding the 3.18.4 E-sys, do I have to do anything to use it with the PSdZdata 48.x? I am planning to try the 3.18.4 that I have with the 48.2 before moving over to 3.22.x (and 49.1) as I have found out that a new token (that expires) is needed with the 3.22.x E-Sys.

48.3 will work with e-sys 3.18
For 49.x you need e-sys 3.22.x and the patch/token I think the changes introduced in 48.3 causing e-sys 3.18 to no longer work are F20 specific (48.3/3.18 works fine for me on my F10)

Questions for you guys regarding E-Sys programming (it's really not programming but more of turning on/off the default setttings for U.S. bound M5). Does changing the default settings for U.S. bound M5 via E-Sys invalidate the warranty of the the M5? And does the M5 have the ability to "phone home" to inform BMW of those altered settings or does that show up when you come in for BMW service?

NYBimmerFan: There is some discussion over on the coding forum that quite a few things (and unexpected things) get written into a log file on one the modules. Things like destination and addresses used (that bewilder some as to why they would be there) and also 'indicators of change' like passive errors related to settng the max speed for allowing video to play. There has also been a post about the M5 phoning home on an error.
My suspicious is that the majority of logs and content are very verbose out of what I'll call laziness to not put a lot of effort into determining how much and what should be stored. That said, there is no guarantee that a networked device (including your car) won't send home a log that a human (or program) can determine has the fingerprints of you changing values in the already programmed modules on the car. Short of you claiming that the car was dangerous and suing BMW over a feature you turned on that was off before you changed the coding value - I see little meaningful opportunity for BMW to claim that an engine failure was the result of you setting you automatic high beam for the headlights to "on" via coding. There will be someone come along with a speech about magnussum-something-er-other in a minute, but we know we just don't like the hassle. No one can extend to you a guarantee but the likelihood of an issue dealing BMW is probably low [short of you claiming failure on a module that accidentally broke during a coding session]. |

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to find out if anyone has gotten some sort of reprimand or warning or maybe outright revocation of his/her M5 warrantee due to his/her changing the default settings via E-Sys. All I want to change from the default is the TPMS info to show actual tire pressure, HUD music/telephone data and probably FOB closing of windows and mirrors.

No call home for coding changes etc
As long as you're reasonable and don't do crazy stuff (like FW update for the ECU/HU) you'll be fine. Just remember e-sys is the same tool as used on the factory floor so there's the possibility of changing something which was not meant to be changed As for the logs they are not collected/send to BMW at this point , there are ways to access them but not using the standard tools.

Has anybody setting the Mirror/Windows/Moonroof control via FOB and Confort Access through E-Sys coding encountered this message? It came out during FDL generation for setting FRM / 3020 / ASP_BEIKLAPPEN_BEI_KOMFORTSCHLIESSEN -> aktiv

That's correct. After a few seconds that it was on display, it went away with the monitor turned black. So it's to be expected then and not an error or a real malfunction that needs the attention of the BMW service department?

You can ignore these errors if they are not persistent.
They just come from the reboot/initialization of the coded modules

Also, can someone direct me to a link for the full tutorial on coding? I have yet to do this, but plan on doing so for tire pressure and temp when I take delivery of my M5 later this month.
By the way, I read in the manual than Canadian cars have the tire temp and pressure values shown by default, but USA does not. What possibly could be the reason for that? Sounds crazy doesn't it?
