Is there a way to make the brake hold?

with the DCT if you're stopped at a traffic light and road is slopped and you're engaged in a gear the car would still slip and go back which can be tricky if you are not paying attention. it surprises me that this happens especially since manual bmw 3 series and mini coopers dont go back anymore they have this feature that holds them. is there a feature or a button that you press which will hold the car in its place, or tap on the brakes like Mercedes and the car will hold the car.

i also have this problem, it get worst if you are using auto/start stop. i activate the P brake so the car wont roll backwards.

Strange thing is, my M3 DCT which has the same transmission as the M5 has this feature. If M5 didn't have this, I'd be quite surprised. Are you sure you are doing the right thing?
It has this feature.

So, where is it? Or how do you activate it?

Just step on the brake. It allows the car time to engage the transmission without rolling back on a slope. Remember, DCT is basically a manual transmission actuated electronically. When stopped, it's like you disengaging your clutch with a true manual when stopped.

So there's no equivalent to the "hanging" technique in a pure manual transmission wherein you step on both the clutch and gas just enough to put the vehicle in a "hang" state?

Don't think that's possible with DCT. That was my dilemma when deciding which transmission to order. I've had both, and the manual is more engaging in the whole driving experience. But it seems traffic in my area is getting worse and my left leg doesn't like engaging the clutch all day long. And the experience on the track with DCT is magical.
