Will EPA grab your car for testing?
Does anyone know what cars will be used for EPA testing?
For people with July US-production dates, is there a risk of your car being sent to testing at the EPA since there are no fuel economy numbers? Some cars will need to go there, and the first cars arriving may all be customer special-order cars... It seems like a particularly strong concern if you ordered manual transmission. There will be only very few of those for testing. Even an August production date may not be safe... I'm trying to find some information about how this process works. I ordered a manual transmission M5, and I'm concerned that it may be the first or one of the first production cars to arrive at the US. Anyone with a July production date for manual transmission? |

I would think they would test some of the many cars BMW already has in the USA (press cars). Seems odd to test sold customer cars.

Gentlemen - I hope you and your families are safe in the wake of the train derailment near Columbus. Heard on the news they had a pretty large evacuation area. Stay safe.
PS - Sorry for the threadjack.

Shame on BMW if they dare let the EPA joy ride/test on customers cars to determine if we need to pay a ridiculous "fine" for purchasing a vehicle they don't deem eco friendly. If I choose to drive a vehicle with lower MPG then so be it. They sure as hell aren't paying for my gas

Found this on another forum about the EPA Certification. It looks like the 2012 M5 was certified in California for emissions.
