The R8 is just a sexy ass beast with amazing v10 sound (I did exhaust already). Its very fast to 60 as you said with AWD but up top to speeds over 160 I could see the M5 pulling on it with the DCT and no AWD power robbing tranny. Oh but the sound and the looks of the car are amazing. The handling of the R8 is incredible with the magnetic shocks; not disimiliar to my GTR of the past but with better steering. The car is so neutral into higher speed turns yet has minimal understeer at speeds of 120 plus in 90 degree curves. The inside is very very comfortable but it lacks some creature comforts than an M5/M6 would have like memory seats and the mmi nav is dated slightly. But the car just is so amazing on the eyes to me along with sound and handling that I dont care so much about the speed. I have gained some hp with the exhaust and GIAC ECU so its more repsonsive and this assists with the S tronic gearbox which is basically and SMG III box. Similar cars have AWD dyno'd circa 500hp so when I dyno mine Thursday Im hoping for that type of gain. This car reminds me slighly of my E63 M6 because the sweetspot of the car is 6k rpms to 8k (this one starts earlier) but the redline on the R8 V10 is 8750 or around there.

Im very very happy with this car... I stil have my M6 too so I still am an S63tu fan no doubt.
Thank you, and well said. Yes you are correct about that vid. My wife had a 2010 A4 and I wasn't too crazy about the MMI but it's better than Mercedes current infotainment set up IMO. I love my BMW's but Audi has come a long way in the last few years. I also give them credit that the there is nothing out there that is reminiscent of the styling. I think it's one of the most sexiest cars out there in the $150 neighborhood. Plus, sound and handling attributes are very important factors. I miss my S85 sound in my old M5. My F10 even with the Meisterschaft doesnt come close IMO. Anyway, thanks again for satisfying my curiosity. I wish you the best of luck with her, enjoy.

What kind of exhaust did you get? I was gonna shell out money for a GMG Racing exhaust on my RS4 years ago, but got a killer deal on my Milltek. Awe tuning makes a sweet exhaust for the V10 too.. Also, perhaps a vid of said exhaust

I got the GMG v10 GT exhaust (they have a normal v10 one too) which is loud!!! I did the ecu mod to bump the power back towards the original lambo engine, lowered, rear carbon lip, badging, etc. Wheels are coming in 1 week... Ill post some pics.

Here is a youtube on a v10 non gt exhaust- its way waaaaaaaay better in person- I just want to drive the car all the time.

its funny you say this---- Im coming out of my fastest 3 cars Ive personally owned:

Heavily modded 997.1TT
Modded 997.2TT PDK
GTR HKS 600

and none of them excite me as much as the roar or this V10 R8 or even my C63 Black Series, both of which are clearly slower.

Hmmm, yeah but aural pleasure is all part of the experience. You are driving an exotic car so the sound should compliment that. Porsches usually don't sound too good IMO unless it's a Carrera GT. I really can't remember the scream of the GTR. Bottom line unfortunately is turbo cars usually can't compete with a NA engine in regards to sound.

Very true about turbo cars: my GTR actually sounded pretty loud but it wasnt exotic to say the least. The one car that I recently owned that was quite strong for a Turbo was the 5.4TT CLS63. I cut the resonator on that car it was loud!!

But the F1 sound of the R8 is out of this world.
