Just finished the retrofit on a 2012 F10 550 M Sport. We'll be posting details shortly and hope to offer a kit. Total cost (today - should go down as parts availability improves) was around $6K. Very special thanks to some friends at BMW for making the impossible happen.

Did you opt for the competition pack?

I am seriously considering trading my dec 2012 to a LCI version with comp package but still in 2 minds.

Not sure if there a huge difference apart from cosmetic differences on standard and comp package

This is gonna be a prob ... those that got the 2014 LCI will likely over emphasize the changes, and those that didn't will likely under...

wait for mag reviews? nah, they're often crap ... best option is to test drive

6k, jeez that's alot for a retrofit

Agreed the led headlights do definitely make the Lci stand out from the crowd

Maybe 1500 pounds from bmw for led headlights on a Lci isn't a bad deal then lol

I'm an Internet millionaire so 6K on lights is peanuts LOL. although my dealer is quoting £3600 just for the units, maybe more needed for any wiring etc.

I found the lights on the LCI I drove today very cool. and it's really the only way to spot an LCI other than the grill, which I have now on order

just on the LCi the new satnav is another good step forward from BMW functionally identical but the UI is another step forward, it also looks like the controller is retrofitable if you want to do it although the touch part won't do anything, rumour has it the Russian guys have figured out how to retro the new nav but not sure I'll bother with that. Only thing I am considering is the ceramic brakes and hope to have a story on that soon.

Neil.

I drove one today, exhaust noise is bit more noticeable, ceramic brakes are wonderful when warmed up, other than that no real difference, you certainly can't feel the steering or suspension changes and certainly nothing on the extra power. although this was 60 minutes round the centre of London...

I find its cheaper to buy a new car than to try to update the old one.

+1

And to say the steering was not noticeable makes me sort of say "hhhhmmmmmmm". Very strange. I am of zero boas whatsoever and when driving a 2104 M6 for a night the steering stuck out so much that I spent the night not liking my 2103 as much. Drove me crazy and still kinda does. It is much lighter and more connected feeling.

Agreed. Not my car though. Just offering my technical expertise

Neil - is the price you were quoted GBP or USD? If it's GBP, it's almost 5600 USD.

EDIT: He said GBP.

no standard car bar 20" wheels. MCB with orange interior. Dealer just confirmed at docks in boat waiting to be shipped

actually the one thing that is ALOT better in the LCI is DSC. I found it interfered much less than in my car. although I was not allowed to hoon it too much as it was not run in - I did manage a couple of hard corners where often DSC kicks in.

and yes new car probably is a better bet. dealer is trying to entice me, and I am not so impressed with MCB and the stone chips! I feel a alpine white might be on the cards.
