Since you said the 14 has "no rear climate", that tells me it's missing the Executive Package, which is uncommon and you lose a ton of features as a result.

I'm intensely in favor of '14+ but in this example I'd have a hard time saying yes to the '14 over the '13.

Yea I don't want to lose the rear climate and rear heated seats. Also, the 13 has extended warranty and maintenance.

13’ Exec Pack vs 14’ Comp Pack w/o Exec package? 13’ 10K less miles and $5K less ....

I believe I would go with the 13 in this case but would suggest waiting or searching for a better optioned 14’ (Exec / ZCP).

+1 on this.

If you've waited this long, I think you'd be happier with a bit more patience to get a properly equipped '14 with all the goodies.

I'd buy the crashed one for 32k lol but not 45k

remember if you drove that car to 80k miles you wouldn't even be able to get 30k for it lol

so if you got it for 32-35k out the door then you'd at least have a shot at some resale in a year or two.

1st ones better option.

The LCI had some great improvements and I would say that you should wait if in no rush for a better spec'ed 14+model.

Did u buy the 13 what dealer was it? I know the 14 you are talking about but never saw a loaded 13 with rear entertainment and I have seen literally have M5 listed/that lists up in the country.

I would take the 13 over the 14 anyway

Ended up getting the 13. Too good of a deal to pass up, and I couldn't be happier with my choice. Such a clean and well maintained car. And it was from a BMW dealer. ??

What was the asking price? Curious how much dealers are taking off as I am starting to seriously look at picking up a 13 or 14 m5 myself.

in his particular situation, he definitely should have skipped the '14 due to the accident history.

IMO, you should hold out for the '14. My reasons:

1. The updated steering wheel itself is so pretty, that alone is almost worth it. I mean after all, you stare at the wheel 100% of the time you're driving.

2. hold out for a ZCP car. I know, the performance difference is minimal, but the steering and suspension changes are substantial enough for the car to feel different. Plus, from the M3 experience (I came from a E90 M3), the ZCP will be easier to sell and will hold better value.

3. LCI headlights will be hard and expensive to retrofit. I don't recall if it is 2014 with the new headlights, but if it is, while theoretically it can be retrofitted, the cost and effort is IMO too high. Based on my initial research, the housing alone will in the thousands, and then there's coding. The reasons you're buying preowned early model is bc you're cost conscience, why would you throw thousands into the headlight mod?

Again coming for the E9X M3, I had 2008, pre-LCI, while I wanted to update my taillights for the car, I just couldn't stomach the $600 or so for the lights and the coding and for the E9X, I actually had to find a LCI trunk to fit it all and paint it. All in all, I would have spend a good $1500 or so when its' all said and done, a very similar cost for the M5 conversion.
