all the above issues were fixed in 2015 models. Buy 2015+ and you will be good. Competition package is a plus, better suspension, exhaust and more power.

Don't go thinking that it's a completely different car from the earlier ones, it's still the same design engine and ancillaries with non forged rod bearings, electronics just have some cosmetic add on's.

I can get 3 years of warranty with Global Warranty but I believe they have a limit of the amount they will cover (I.e $5000 max per claim)

Has anyone dealt with Global Warranty?

Also has anyone had any significant and very costly issues with the F10 M5?
Personally if I was you I would save up a bit more and get a 2014 onwards as its facelifted and ultimately more desirable

Of course it's the same car but they fixed most of the issues that 13s and 14s had

This is pretty much how it is with every car make, first years got issues then they fix them

Well lets see, fuel injectors were replaced under extended good will warranty for all 12-13 cars in US and as far as I know everything else engine and dct internally is just the same, apart from being slightly older..

Thank you for this! I've recently started looking into a used '13-14 M5 and you've assembled what looks like a pretty exhaustive list of what to look for in one place.

2014 and up LCi doesnt describe the most desirable one accurately as not all LCi's have the LED light package..

you want a 2014 onwards with LED pkg .. 14+ guarantees new steering wheel but not the badass headlights, and cool rear blinkers (led/light pkg)

I haven't had a chance to take pics. The interior is in great condition, apart from the driver's seat bolster. I read this merino leather wears very easy. Actually all the M5's I saw had wear on the driver's seat. Even a 2013 with 18k miles at Bmw dealer.

Go on RPiM5's posts, not sure where to get them and how much they are but he's the person I think of first. He pretty much bullet proofed his engine with these bearings when being rebuilt

That's why I chose black merino comfort, no wear at all on bolsters.Mine's 33000 miles and it's important to condition this leather regularly.(every 6-9 months.
