Release: OpenFlash Off-The-Shelf v2 Tunes

Well ...

It's been a LONG 2 weeks on the dyno, but we've got a lot of -well, everything- to show for it!

We're proud to present our v2 F10 M5 Off-The-Shelf maps!

The new mapping brings some additional refinement and enhancements to our already fantastic v1.2 mapping.

These maps contain additional TQ management operations, while still retaining OEM safety mechanisms: Such as CAT over-heat protections, boost control strategies, combustion temp control (fueling), and much much more. There is no reasonable need to sacrifice OEM control strategies for power --- it just ins't required!

In the graphs below, you can see the direct difference between the new v2, and previous v1.2 mapping (v2.0 is bold):

Test Vehicle #1- F10 M5 (Non-Competition)
Fuel: 93 Octane (USA)
Mods: Aftermarket Downpipes with Performance Catalytic Converters Only

Test Vehicle #2- F10 M5 (Competition)
Fuel: 93 Octane (USA)
Mods: Titanium Cat-Back Exhaust Only.

As we've touched on in posts before, limiting TQ is key here. Keeping the heat out of the engine assembly at the lower RPM really allows the twin-turbo 4.4L v8 to sing up-top!

======

Like I said, its been a BUSY 2 weeks! We've completely re-worked and updated our website in an effort to make it easier to navigate and find what you need.

All current customer: Please request your new v2 tune files by following this link -> https://www.openflashtablet.com/free...-file-request/

Allow us 1-5 days to get your request fulfilled. We've got an entire world of customers to get squared away with these new tunes!

If you have any questions, we're here to get you sorted out!

Car feels better behaved in lower gears mainly 3rd. No violent push of torque making the tires violently spin.

Highway pulls make the car feel as it keeps pulling harder and harder as ya get closer and closer to redline. I only felt this butterfly acceleration feeling when I first tuned the car then I got used to it. Felt it again after the V2 reflash!

About 50 emails went out about 1/2 hour ago. I think you were one of them. We will have the rest going out later tonight and tomorrow.

Finally getting some Michelin PS4S tires mounted on our M5c tomorrow. The Pzeros that are on our car now have absolutely no grip in the cold-ish weather we have here in Northern CA. I tried to do some 60-120mph VBOX pulls a couple weeks ago and it was futile. Weather should clear up Wed and Thurs which should provide an opportunity to try again with the new rubber.

We are also taking our M5c and M2c to Laguna Seca raceway for testing this weekend to capture some data and see how the v2 tunes stand up to full 20 minute sessions of flat out flogging. I know, it's a tough job

Well, yesterday afternoon started out great...then

First, I encountered an error trying to get the 2.0 tune files generated once plugged into the car. I emailed OF and I am hoping I can just redo the process to correct it. Then with my hands full getting out of the car I dropped the OFT about a foot and a half hitting a corner of a cardboard box...cracked screen. It works fine, but the screen doesn't respond in the center. I emailed OF hoping that I can get a replacement screen for it.

The P Zeros with 4mm and damp roads are just dangerous, I cant wait for spring and the new MPS4s tyres to go on.

The V2 File I got did not have boost by gear. Did everyone else get a different tune?

The car seems a lot more behaved so I'm not sure I really need the torque by gear tune thing.. Just curious

Yes those who requested the v2 tunes through the link posted above received a .pck file that automatically generates 3 tune files when you click on the Tuning icon in the OFT’s home screen. In those tune files, we apply a 1st and 2nd gear tq reduction. You may want to give it a try and see how you like it

I got about 100 miles on V2 yesterday. It's pretty rediculous in a good way. Don't want to give away too many details before I get Shiv's feedback. I will update after
