I think you can get 2-3 changes out of one of the bottles I have.

Yes I had to buy a socket set just for this job. lol.

So just by sticking out the reservoir you're able to extract 1/3 liter or more? Dang. Assuming you havebthe same 1 liter bottle I have. Are you fully draining the reservoir or leaving some in the bottom? It looks like the hose which connects higher up is the return line, so I assume no risk of letting air into the system.

Yeah it fills my entire fluid extractor up. Your at the highest point in the system so no need to worry about air.

Another thing you can do is redirect the return line into a container. Run the car, turn the wheel a bunch and keep the reservoir topped up. That would cycle the whole system. I may try it at some point. I just didn't have any replacement clips for the hose.

Is there an alternative to the CHF11S for PS fluid or is that what most folks use?

CHF11S is what I'm using. Just did the first extraction. Removed and replaced a tick over 0.2 liters, so it would take me about 5 times to use the whole bottle. Luckily it's quick and easy.

Does the coolant need to be drained (or at least vented afterwards) to do the turbo aux coolant pump? I'm assuming so.

BMW said they didn't see anything wrong with my pump, but based on the sound I might replace it anyways.

Yeah a ton of fluid has to come out for the pump replacement. You will have air in the system if you dont properly vent the system.

I changed all of my lower control arms/thrust arms and sway bar end links. I had a noise I've been trying to chase down in the passenger side suspension. The bushings on the old arms were fine, its the balljoints that seemed completely shot. I could not tell they were bad until I took them out.

I went with the turner monoballs preinstalled in the thrust arms. As well as all new bolts and nuts. Everything torqued to spec with the suspension loaded(this took some major muscle power considering the angles I had to work with on the ground). Steering is definitely more precise and immediate. It really wasn't much more $$$ to go this route considering OEM new thrust arms are already 1k for a pair.

Good job. I’ll be doing the same soon, just placed the order for those on turner. Once they come in I’ll be changing those out and my kw has for kw v3.

This is definitely a to-do, since my front end has a continuous knocking over bumps or uneven surfaces.

your back end looks just like mine now. black-tipped soul exhaust tips with the center CF diffuser. looks great!

On another note: was it the ball joins on the thrust arm or LCA which were shot? I'm guessing the LCA.

sounds like you have good tastes too. lol

I replaced the thrust arms first because everyone said they were usually the first to go. I still had noises. The lower control arm ball joints were the worst. I wouldn't say that the thrust arms were in great shape though.

So I got the dreaded melting door handles that the 5 series suffer from. If you are not familiar with this; the rubber/plastic material that the door inserts are made from ends up turning into some kind of sticky tar. Its a mess and it sticks to you every time you touch it.

I got replacements on amazon that will never melt since they are a different material.
