Absolutely nothing, and I'm shocked. No leaks, no oil, really no visible issues!!!
CPO Warranty runs out late next month so I wanted to get the car on a lift to have a look. Question for you guys, while I have access to a lift, aside for leaks, what else should I be looking for? Guibo looks new, boots/axles look new.

I bought a 2015 Competition with 72k miles and also skipped the warranty. Under side of mine looks great as well. Mine is BM3 stage 1 tuned and is the best all around daily car I've ever had. I was under mine yesteday inspecting bushings and just looking around in general. Everything is just so beefy. I start her up and get going right away and keep RPM's down until she's warmed up. Then she see's triple digits daily.

A very reputable indy here said the trans will have to be replaced at some point before 100k. Its sent me in a tailspin looking for posts and articles about the transmission. So I'm thinking about swapping the fluid (seems no one believes BMW's fluid change interval which for the trans is supposed to be never).
For you high mileage owners can you post your maintenance regiment. How often you change oil (5k vs 3k), how often you change the plugs (religiously at a specific mileage or once the car's performance starts indicating plugs need to be changed), if you've changed the DCT trans fluid, full exhaust, catless downpipes, air filters, any other bolt-ons etc, OTS flash, custom tune, stock?.......anything else I'm not thinking of. I would love to legit consider keeping this car. I just dont want to be afraid to drive the damn thing. I'm loving it so far and my intention is to keep it if (well maintained) I can expect regular services for it (with the M tax of course). I mean I wanted to flash it when I got it then I got cold feet. I barely drive it as it is now thanks to covid so when I do hop in it still feels fast. |

I have not heard of the trans being a common fail on these. Ive heard of clutches going from too much TQ in a tune. The engine seems to blow up more than the trans. If you want to tune the car I would just do everything and make sure its mechanically perfect first.
My 2014 just turned 30500 miles but i got it at 28k. Ive done: oil spark plugs air filter - charcoal delete rotors / carbotech pads brake fluid flush tires all around to do: alignment on thursday diff fluid trans fluid/filter - maybe around 40k coolant flush coils 50k,60k? or before tune. Then data log stock and make sure everything is good to go. |

those were all on the list to get addressed. I've put about 2k on the car since I got it at 44k but my oil is here.....I'll set aside time/money for the differential, trans and coolant

Personally, I change oil every 5k and I will be changing plugs in about 3k miles. Definitely change your other fluids too. I know they say DCT is lifetime, but I prefer to be proactive and change it. Certainly can't hurt. My car has a Stg 1 Dinan tune, removed Charcoal filters and AFE dry filters. That's it. Feels pretty darn fast but of course, I want to go stage 2 w/ dp's. lol

Diff, trans, coolant, brake, and power steering should be about $160 or so, for each one, at Bimmer Performance Center in Raleigh. Not cheap but do 2-3 at a time and your car will thank you.

Funny enough it was whoever picked up the phone at BPC. I forget the gentlemans name but he had no hesitation........just said the trans well need to be replaced. It was the first i heard of it so I was looking for alot of anecdotal experiences to see some real world experiences. I live closer to ImportMotorWerks but I have been to BPC a few times for oil changes and routine maintenance in my old 335i

+3 for Raleigh area. DCT isn't known as a problematic transmission. BPC may have targeted SMG that's used by the e60 and e46 M cars. Many well documented issues with SMG. Find a thread on DTC vs MT.
Few comments revolve around DCT breaking prematurely. With on schedule fluid changes I expect long term performance from DCT. |

Yeah I know the SMG was problematic (wasn't it down to the SMG pump on those?), I was clear on my year and trans type. I dunno...... Maybe I got the "wrong" guy. It gives me pause if someone on their staff is giving out info like that. Strange. I'll plan to have the trans fluid changed out before years end since I barely drive it. I've got my oil change kit and turner Motorsports axle back exhaust to install in the coming weeks. I found wheels I like. Just waiting for my motorcycle to get sold and I'll pull the trigger on that.

I kinda like the Rohana RFV1's and V2's. But I keep going back to the RFX11's (The RFX7's are a close second). Love the bronze but the yellow gold I think would look awesome on my comp white. I'll probably makeup my mind when I heat up the plastic for them.
