is blue coolant....

Hi!

I am writing to ask if blue coolant is used in both circuits on this vehicle? I recently changed compressor clutch on my new to me vehicle and had to remove the intercoolers. Blue coolant was what came out....and blue coolant is what I replaced with. I went to check the other tank (driver side) to see if it needed any topping off, when I noticed the coolant in the tank was green. Is this normal or are they both supposed to be filled with the blue coolant?

All BMW's only use blue coolant. To me it's more of a aqua blue/green.

Could vary. I recently did my turbo cooling lines swap to Project Gamma silicone. Those lines are linked to engine coolant loop, and mines came out Yellow/goldish color. So in the engine coolant loop i have Yellow/Goldish coolant. On the charge coolers and ECU cooler loop it looks to be Blueish/Green. I did have to top off my coolant after and bleed, and I bought Valvoline Zerex GO5 which is compatible, no issue so far going on about 4 weeks and 1,100 miles. Not sure entirely why the coolants are different sometimes.

Did you visit a BMW dealership recently for service ?
Current models have changed to green color coolant. Sometimes the engine will have blue and the charge cooler system will have green and sometimes both are green.
Based on yours being out of warranty, its possible someone used a generic green coolant.
Best recommendation would be to flush and or refill with the same coolant so that you don't mix the properties within the fluid

The car was serviced before I purchased it. So they might have flushed it and replaced with the Yellow coolant in the engine loop. I am honestly not worried about it. The color issue has been a debate for years. The Valvoline Zerex G-05 I used is same chemical spec'd as OEM BMW, this has been ok'd dating back to the E39 M5. Its not mixed, seems like an entire flush/fill. I'm debating changing out my thermostat, so if I do, then I will consider another flush and change. I could do a voltage test on it, but honestly not worried about it. I have no indicators of corrosion and my temps are normal.
