30 Jahre M5 - $170,000

Every option including night vision. Has not been driven from showroom. I am terrible at uploading pics on here so the link to the ad and photos is below. Sticker is $142,000. We hit the lottery and didn't just get through to buy one, but got two.... not sure that two are necessary.

So you thought you'd be an opportunist and flip it for a profit. Good luck. That car isn't worth $142,000 let alone $170,000.

Ouch

Didn't mean to offend... not like were anti BMW. I eat sleep live and breath BMW. It's an amazing car but living in the frozen tundra with frozen paint is a little difficult for a daily commuter to replace one of my X5's (12M and 12 Diesel)

Just for fun I built a fully loaded M5 (checked all the boxes including individuals) and ended up to 136K! I know it doesn't have 30th anniversary badge, but it's fully loaded... So 34K for a badge???

agreed.

OP, perhaps you shouldn't have ordered the second one when you had the chance.

Good luck with the sale, but I'm guessing that you won't have any takers at that price (or any price at OR over MSRP).

Geez everyone settle down. What does "worth it" mean. Some don't think it's worth $25 for a car wash. We're all different. Just because I can't, won't etc buy a car way over doesn't mean that there is not someone out there who really wants and can buy. Just saying.

Just FYI, not accurate.
A few other differences including 40 more factory hp and 15 more ftlbs not including 1/30 in the US, if those are important.

Still couldn't justify the price but it's not a fully optioned M5

First of all this is not the Classified section of the forum. Second of all it just seems like a crass move to flip a car like that for a quick profit - especially to forum members who generally try to help each other.

If I had the extra $, and my first of the US euro delivery M5s was coming up on lease end I'd buy one. But id also put a set of gloss black BBS FIs on it

Value is perceived by the individual...

business is business, and he's not the first or the last to flip a car for a profit. Now would somebody cough up 170k for a 120k M5, thats a completely different sucker.

As I said I built the car with all options for 136K! Now you are claiming about other features? which one? please let me know. Also you can pay $3500 and Dinan will modify your car with even more power/torque if it's your concern

BTW this is the car I built on BMWUSA:

My M5 Sedan Details
4.4 liter, V8 with M TwinPower Turbo technology
Rear-wheel drive

BASE MSRP
$93,600
Moonstone Metallic$1,950
Cashmere Beige / Black Extended Merino Leather$5,000
Dark Red Sycamore Wood trim$1,080
Competition Package$7,300
Driver Assistance Plus$1,900
Executive Package$6,400
M Carbon Ceramic Brakes$9,250
Enhanced USB and Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration$500
Bang & Olufsen Sound System$3,700
Rear-seat entertainment Professional$2,200
Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection$2,300
Destination & Handling:$950

Total MSRP as Built $136,130

Even with adding $1300 Gas Guzzler tax still it's $137,470

Did I miss something?

Actually you missed a lot.

1. Frozen Dark Silver Paint - Probably at least $5,000 as a conservative estimate.
2. 600ps or 592hp engine.
3. 700nm of torque.
4. 199mph top speed limiter - although it is unconfirmed if the U.S. Spec versions of the 30 Jahr Edition M5 will get this.
5. Alantara lined interior - At least another $5,000 on top of Full Merino Leather option.
6. Special interior trim
7. Special badges all over car.

They said the 30 year edition was supposed to have an MSRP of about $142,000. I think that that is quite a deal compared to what you get with your build. Now paying $170,000 for one? I would never do it. Even the 30 Year Edition will depreciate, although it will hold value much better than a normal M5 ever could. Even still though, that's like flushing money down the toilet for a someone who values money.

I tell you what I would do though. I would pay $142,000 just for the 199mph top speed limiter and then add the BMS tune on top of the 592hp stock horsepower and just rape everything from pretty much zero to 199mph. LOL!

I think Blue.Thunders M5 came out to more than the 30 Year Edition's MSRP and I would gladly spend what he spent to get something fully Individual than $170,000 on something 299 other people own too.

Just trying to offer some constructive debate brother M6-Coupe, not saying you are wrong at all.

I'm guessing whoever buys it will park it in a collection and I'll see it in 70 years on mecum right before I'm about to die at the old folks home... Hopefully its on Ice cream Wednesdays because that would make my day when I'm in my late 90s.

I think you missed my point! I didn't say 142K is too much! I said 170K is too much. Actually 142K is the real price of car (MSRP) which is attached to Original Post! ... about the items you mentioned:
1.The cost of Frozen Dark Silver should be the same as Frozen Bronze metallic which is individual color and costs $3600! My built has another individual color costs $1950! So lets say $1650 difference... The new build is $139K
2,3. I mentioned $3500 for Dinan to add that power/torque right?
4. I'm not sure about speed limiter which is not confirmed for US cars
5. $5000 for Alcantara???? I doubt it!BTW, the individual leather ($5000) in that built is more expensive than Merino leather ($3500) and I believe it covers the Alcantara liner price!
6. I also added individual wood trim ($1080)
7. Do you really care about anniversary badge all over the place?? I don't!

Anyway if you read my quote "one more time" , my built including Dinan tuning is about 142K

There is no doubt that somebody will buy this car! Maybe you would buy one of them! My original quote was just "my opinion" oh shoot most of the time I forget to mention "IMO"... I'm gonna add it to my signature

Yes business is business but I would get a better feeling for this if he were trying to tip us off to a good deal on a car rather than something as marked-up as this. Not the right forum IMHO. If I want to see marked-up cars I'll go visit a dealership. If anyone thinks this is a good deal then by all means pay the man.

Wow....

So many people raining down on me and a few that honestly don't know how special the car is. I too wouldn't pay over sticker but there are people out there that have more money in their slush funds than I will make in a life time. The car is a bargain at $142 vs standard as it's actually the most advertised and powerful car they produce right now or ever.

I'd love to have an i8 but how much do you think people will be paying for those since it was limited to 500 and who do you have to know to get one, or rather who do you have to have in your back pocket. I admire BMW for actually leveling the field and giving everyone a shot. I would have gladly paid something to not go through the process of basically winning a lottery, dial a number and hope. I'll pull the post down but i view this as an opportunity for those who can't be bothered to try to get one through the process that we thought would be hopeless, in an effort to own the car. I certainly thought that M5 owners were the best people to offer it to as who else would appreciate it this much...

I'm not rich, i live for my cars... I've had 14 BMW's (or more I guess i should count.) I've brought dozens of people into the fold. I bought my first BMW at 22 and I am from small town midwest where people drove Buicks. I bought my first M5 at 31 years old as my "i made it in life."

These negative posts come off as insanely jealous and caddy, i can accept that. However, if you are on this chat board denouncing me and you are so ignorant as to not know the difference between this car and a standard M5 you really aren't much of a BMW fan.

I have often thought over the past 20 years that what set BMW apart from Mercedes was not just that the cars are better.... but the people that drove them loved them, lusted after them, and sacrificed just to have the privilege of experiencing the joy of driving.
