It took them 6 hrs to do that!!!! I was originally told that I would need a loaner car as it would be overnight likely.....and my 0900 dropped vehicle still was not ready until 1500 hrs.

My car was sitting in service department for 3 days to get the part because I dropped my car and asked them to do that!

I would not have paid $1 for that lash up. Fucking joke.

They do cars here in the UK for free, and no wonder, a kid could do that.

Wrapping from a roll of heat shield tape would look better and take less time.

^ did you check to see if they ever change the clamp ? After all, it's the clamps that are not strong enough to hold the pressure.

I'll hazard a guess that some of the 6 hrs is for Health & Safety reasons (ensure adjacent parts have cooled) + dealership reclaims a fixed labour cost form BMW.

I looks like it'll do the intended job as a heat shield & at least it's a hidden eyesore.

They get a max of 30 minutes to do mine. I'm pulling the engine cover, and will show him your pic while standing in front of the engine. I ordered the "little blankees" last Wednesday and they came in last Friday; we aren't waiting on parts... Frankly, he and I could do it in three minutes in the service drive. I'd do it myself if BMW would certify the recall was done. This is pure silliness...

I cannot believe that is the solution someone came up with at BMW. Maybe on an '85 Civic, but not a BMW. That is just absurd. At least it's covered up.

Who is your rep there? Last time I went there, the gave me the run around. I haven't been back since. Willing to give them another try since they are owned by penski now.

Well I didn't say 6 hours! I said my car was sitting there for 3 three days waiting for parts to arrive! in response to comment#47 that a member said "it took 6 hours..." I said "it took 6 hours to charge $900 BMWNA"
I really don't know how many hours it took, but I agree with you that it does not take that long. I believe they did some inspections before applying those heat guards!
