Dyno charts for stock tune with down-pipes F10 M5

Hey guys,

I had recently purchased VRSF for my completely stock F10 as a first mod. I installed them and within 100 km of driving the car's behavior has changed.

I felt the car is starting to put more power even though it still has stock tune/map. So I went to Dyno my car and whoa I was surprised.

I'm no expert when it comes to Dyno numbers, which is why I am sharing these charts with you.

Please do give me your feedback on this!

Uncorrected values
- 572 whp
- 561 lb.ft / 760 N.m

Corrected Values
- 588 whp
- 577 lb.ft / 782 N.m

Please do share your thoughts on this. Do our cars really gain that much just from DPs while still running on stock tune?
P.S I was able to destroy a modded E63s 4-Matic (Video Available)

Thanks!

Due to the variance in dyno calibrations, you would really need to record some stock baseline runs in order to quantify the gains of adding downpipes to an otherwise stock car. From our in-house testing, the gains aren’t nearly as much as some have claimed.

So you're saying DPs alone can give the car such gains?

Unfortunately I haven't done any stock dyno runs...

Without stock runs on that same very dyno, it's impossible to get an idea of what kind of gains the DPs provided.

True, but I'm focusing on the outcome. An approximate 675 hp / 572 whp car that has stock tune and only DPs. That is what's surprising me. I never thought my car would ve over 600 hp to start with.

Off topic but I always prefer when people show a dyno starting down really low, 1500rpm or so to get an idea on the boost threshold of the engine.

But your ones are great as they are offset by a few hundred rpm on each which lets you see the spool vs threshold difference quite well.

haha awesome!

I actually am trying to maximize the performance of the car while being on stock tune. My aim is to try to break the 600 whp while being on stock tune lol.

I read on my logger yesterday a boost of 19.1 psi!! I was a bit surprised to read such a high value on stock tune. is this normal?

Nice results! Every dyno chart I've seen shows downpipes do add more power mostly in the mid range. They are less restrictive and a nice breather mod for our turbo cars. Another breather mod you should get is intakes where the filters are right behind the kidney grills. I picked up 20whp from my RK Autowerks intakes.

can you share the dyno chart where it picked up 20whp? it would change my mind from selling my RK Auto intakes lol.

The car definitely can breathe easier now and I can feel the extra ponies as a driver.

Such a cheap mod with great results.

Get a JB4+BCM... even cheaper and you will be at 650whp. Add meth and you will be at 720-730whp. Nothing else needed!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts man!

The thing is, before going any further I want to know the limits of this platform and what is safe and what is not. I've been hearing multiple things from different people. Some are saying these internals/HPFP(s)/turbos cannot handle more than 750 (at the crank - which is about 640-650 whp) and some are saying yes they can handle a lot more than that.

I want to have a reliable daily that can run for a good 3-4 years without major issues and without excessive repairs to be honest. Having to worry about engine failure or turbo failure is the last thing that I want at the moment.

What do you think?
