Just in case you didn't figure it out yet, go to your phone in the iDrive Bluetooth menu. Hit the option button, then select the audio box to play audio in Bluetooth. On your iDrive controller, select the media button, then select external devices, and select your phone. You should then be able to play the music on your phone over the Bluetooth connection.

I think the problem is I don't see the audio in blue tooth box but the blue tooth is checked. I will send send pics the steps according to your instructions tomorrow evening. Thanks Kev

I have the iphone 5 adapter which works great. when I don't dock my I phone, I cannot play music through the Bluetooth connection. any thoughts on how to fix this?

Unfortunately, when you dock your phone it automatically turns off Bluetooth streaming. You'll have to go into your iDrive Bluetooth settings for your phone and activate audio to turn it back on. It won't do both at the same time.
