Really? What model year and build M5 do you have? Do you have the SIB for this?

About 4 months ago I read through the bulletin about this, and BMW stated that lighting intensity would vary from model to model and from vehicle to vehicle. They also stated that no fix would be forthcoming and instructed dealers to not warranty or replace any parts related to the issue.

Do the B&O accent light settings in the iDrive now change the lighting intensity?

There must be a fix at some level because I noticed a huge difference in B&O lighting brightness on my 2014 compared with my 2013 M5.

The only question is whether its software or hardware.

Yeah I always expected them to fix the issue on future builds. But from the wording the in SIB, current owners were SOL and BMW dealers were prohibited from swapping parts.

I just sat in a 2014 S Class to spec a S63 out. The accent lighting in that car is ridiculous. The whole car is on another level, it might as well be called a maybach. Anyways it had me thinking that it would be nice to have my B&O illuminated. This thread gives me hope.

Is this the iLevel integration? If not warranty, can we pay a small fee just to have them do the software update?

Can anyone post a pic of the B&O lighting? I'm a late 12 early 13 build and I don't think mine have any lights(that I noticed)? Eager to go in and have the software updated if possible. Thanks!!!

here is the center channel with the lights at max level
picture is without a flash
taken in garage with all lights off
the lighting is subtle as is the ambient lighting in the car

When the car's i level is updated, will I still be able to code my car using the same version data files? Or would I need to download new files?

Anyone know? @Stealth.Pilot?

With the latest i-level you'll need the 50.4 files to code your car
The latest update only updates the CAS and IHK modules , all other coding will be preserved.
Only coding you may have done in the above two modules needs to be redone

Yep Shawn can provide you the password for the latest files (also a pointer to the download in case it has changed, otherwise it's the same site as you used for the previous versions)
