Down Pipes - Heat wrap / Ceramic coating ??

A lot of debate on this but wanted to ask it again since most threads are older.

Im adding catless DPs and know these are thinner SS metal vs double walled OE DPs so heat will increase in the engine bay quite a bit more. I live in hot humid coastal NC. I want to keep temps down around the turbos and #4 and #8 cylinders.

So my options are

1. Titanium wrap (is there enough clearance for wrap?)
2. Ceramic Coat
3. Titanium wrap and ceramic coat

Ceramic coating for sure. Far superior and longer lasting that wrapping etc..

I did both ceramic coating and wrapped them, along with ptp turbo blanket.

No evidence to actually back this but....

I've heard that while the catless downpipes are thinner, they don't have cats which retain the heat so they don't get as hot.
In theory that sounds good. lol

If you're around Charlotte anytime soon, we can pull the heat shields off and get some temp readings from both.

I would also add that a reduction of restriction after removing the cat should allow air to flow more freely; i.e. less heat. But yea, this is just bro science on my part lol.

you can wrap or ceramic coat but it is unnecessary. the wrap and ceramic will both degrade eventually and its unnecessary. that "double wall" "heatshield" on oem DPs everyone talks all the time about is needed bc of the cats bc they get so hot, but also that doublewall sets right on the motor basically touching it more than less. and cats are hot. with catless pipes there are inches between the motor and DPs and no cat to get super hot either, so youre gonna be making that area of the motor cooler just by getting catless pipes. no wrap needed until u jump up to 93mm DP's and making ~1,000 hp.

just buy nice DP's, not $300 ebay junk and youll be fine. dont cheap out on this, its easy and the best bolt-on mod for our car. the price will let u know if its good quality metal, welding, and fitment

Do you notice an WG rattle or noises that were not present w/ factory DP's?

i have a slight tin can rattle, very slight only at cold start( I can't wait to get that coded out) but i dont think its the wastegate. The clamps on the dp's did work loose from the initial install and it had a loud tin can rattle right after cold start up is finished and put it in reverse so I took it to the dealer and for sure the DP's had backed off the turbos a little bit. i'm worried the coldstart is making it do that andit might happen again because there's no fitment issues. but I know my BMW guy did it as good as possible
