B guess it's not just Porsche that has issues! M5 Navigation flickering and no fix!

It's been 2 days in the shop!
And no clue what happened and why Navigation was flickering when the car got exposed to the sun for a few hours! Never happened in the mornings!! Only at the end of a long sunny day! The screen would dim to the point I couldn't even use the backup camera!! and then starts flickering then 20 minutes later all gone and back to normal!!

I taped it for them!!
And They had no clue!!
They changed the whole "Unit" per BMW directions and couldn't seem to boot it up !! Yes the brand new 2014 "Unit"

So frustrating and I am personally very disappointed in BMW!!
2014 M5 with less than 10k miles on it and 100k+ car and this happens!!

This is when I start missing my Acura TL!!
I had 2 Acuras and was only changing gas and oil!! Period!!

Audi Q7 gave me issues too
Mercedes Benz!! I almost Lemmoned a car for them before 2010 E550 coupe !!

And this is my 3rd Bimmer and I thought that BMW is the way to go but guess I was wrong!
German cars just can't stay problem free for long or even for short periods of time!!
!!

Things happen.

I've had many Lexus / Acura products have issues. Including my old Lexus ISF which had the navi replaced 3x and rotors warped before 15k miles.

My M5 (2013 7k) is solid.. no issues. My past 3 E60 M5's were solid as well.

Many cars have their problems no matter what the brand (wether it's a 50k car or 500k car). I'm sure the dealer will diagnosis further and find a solution. Could be a bad cable or some other module went bad.

Anyways, post back when they figure out what happened.

I've got this exact problem on my '14 750Li. It's been in the shop since last Thursday. I'll let you know what the fix is once they tell me.

You taped the problem. They replaced the unit. It still isn't functioning properly, right?

It's called trouble shooting. Let the dealership try and fix the problem. Expecting a car to be 100% problem free these days is totally unrealistic.

I sympathize with your situation, but ranting about it and throwing in the "I can't believe in a $100k car..." comments make you look arrogant and pompous.

Relax, take a breath. If they can't fix the problem then go ahead and sell the car and head back to Acura. I'm sure the new NSX will be 100% trouble free when it hits the showroom floors...

Since we are talking perceptions: I don't think the OPs post makes him look arrogant and pompous. I think your post makes you look pompous. If you don't have any empathy, just stay quiet

You're entitled to you're opinions, just as I am to mine. No one said that everyone has to agree.

How many times do you see a post with someone complaining about something and them saying. "I can believe a car that costs $xxx doesn't have this feature" or "has been in the shop x many times".

All cars have potential to have issues regardless of the cost.

No - OP doesn't come across as arrogant or pompous - but your response to this guy kinda does. You don't go straight to "shut the fuck up".

OP comes across as irrational - somewhat hysterical. This guy was just reacting to that. I get it.

Could be. It was a long day at the office with people constantly bitching and things not going right. I guess that soured my mood.

The tribe has spoken. I'll pack my things and leave the island.

Does it seem to happen when light conditions change, for instance when entering or exiting a tunnel or similar?

If that sounds right, have your shop look into this:
I have seen this happen and it was related to the wires connecting the light sensor(s) in the rear view mirror.

I had the same thought. Seems like there is a good chance this is related to the light sensor which adjusts the brightness of the screen depending on the ambient light. Could be a bad sensor.

Thx you sir
I was just unhappy because I love driving this car and I feel bad for being off for a few days and be unable to drive for 3 days and no light at end of tunnel that I could see yet -
Used to issues with German cars and still buy them because regardless how much trouble if you love driving and it is something that makes you smile or happy then guess you don't ha r much of an option..
But I didn't forget still that had 2 X5 's and one 550i with zero issues except the injectors that were damaged by a bad gas fill up by my beloved wife... But 6k on odometer still too early as I was hoping model ease issues not first few months -
It is like very early marriage issues
Hahahah

Thank you for your support guys..
