iDrive button swap

Hello

As one of my first posts, hopefully this helps some of you. I just bought my 2013 m5 a month ago from a BMW dealership close to me. As I always do I took it to an independent euro shop to have a once over done incase the dealership missed anything. Not sure how any one could manage but one of the techs scratched the telephone button. Of course they denied any responsibility .

Instead of spending $150+ on a used controller I bought a non working one for $40 shipped off Ebay. Taking off the button is pretty easy and all you have to do is push forward and lift up on the back using your finger nail to pry.(Do not use a screw driver of anything that may scratch) The old one should come off pretty easily and the replacement should snap right back in with little to no force. All in all took about 30 seconds!

Hope this helps!
