Farewell and Openflash dyno numbers to part
Well, it's been a good ride the last few years of trouble free miles until the engine went kaboom.
I've decided to trade in the beast which is now out of warranty, and I got into a 2019 Hellcat. Oh so nice! Finally a real V8 exhaust note. But I won't leave without a parting gift. Here is a dyno run just performed a couple days before the trade-in. This Openflash tune really did shine. Congrats to whoever the new owner will be because I left it in place. Previous dyno runs were on the original engine with a Dinan Stage 2 piggy. Its best run yielded 580HP to the wheels on the same dyno. Attached is a run with 4000 miles on the new engine, Openflash latest with limited flat torque curve, gutted cats, carbon delete, resonator delete. Enjoy! I'll be posting the Openflash tablet for sale in case someone wants it. |

Sorry to see you go. Congrats and good luck with the new car!
Looks like she will represent the F10 well with those numbers! |

You will have to take the OFT map off the car and un-marry the tablet from the car otherwise the OFT will be useless and worth nothing.
If you have sold the car already with the map left on then you need to get it back otherwise as I have said the box is worthless. |

First engine kaboom (as posted before). Second engine appeared very solid and strong. Worked really well with this tune especially on the top end. It was a regular thing for that car to wiggle a bit when you're on the throttle when in the triple digits.

Did you use 91 or 93 octane? And V1.2 or V2.0 tune?

Dealer said, "rod bearing material in oil filter" in the repair order. BMW PUMA quickly replaced the engine. No other explanation was noted.
I had the 93 octane V2.0 tune. No problems at all with it. |

This is another reason we don't hear about rod bearing issues. Thanks

First of congrats to you new purchase. You will definitely enjoy the reliability and peace of mind.
Now like I been saying for a few months now these cars are junk ! These be will be known worse than e60 m5/e9x m3 cats and people thought those were bad. It's really no surprise considering s63tus roots are from the n63 which is a total disaster on its own. There wasn't enough data out there before nor many high mileage cars. I see a engine blown story literally everyday. And it's also outside this forum and social media. I deal with a lot of people that own these type of cars, just this week I heard about rod bearing failing on a 14 M5 and a 13 M5. The 13 was still alive but knocking like crazy the 14 died for good. Can't wait to trade this turd in. I'm sure some of you guys will call me a hater but if you look back I was a big m5 advocate and this is my second f10 m5. M5 was my favorite dream car ever since I was 16. BMW has no quality control. Most of their engines are disposable and not meant to be run long run. From the 4 cylinder models with timing chain issues, to the 6 cylinders n55 with bearing issues, to the 8s that their own textbook of issues and lawsuits. You don't see any other brand with these many fatal flaws. Audi's, Mercedes, even bullshit cars. I had a b8 Audi A4 back in 12 was a 10 model Audi had the piston rings issue and oil burning which was 1 quart every 1000 miles. I thought that was definitely not right but then bmw did one better and says 2 quarts every 1000 is okay. I've always owned two bmws no matter what other cars I got in the fleet. I would be so excited to see any bmw on the road, loved the brand and the meaning behind it. Too bad it's gone to shit now |

That being said. I definitely understand where you're coming from because after having 8 BMWs, I think this will be the last. Last edited by mister2d; 06-23-2019 at 10:32 PM.. |
